    Re: about Jeff Parker

Saw Daley and Vincent at the MACC festival in Ohio a few years age. Got to hang with Jeff after the show at the Artist tent. Great guy and a hell of a player. Wish those guys much continued success....

    Recording Yourself

We've probably all recorded ourself at one time or another. But I think recording your practice sessions every now and then is a great way to gauge your improvement, and work out trouble spots that...

    Re: Ovals making a comeback

As far as the long neck/short being a significant distinction; anyone who's played a prewar Martin 12 fret vs. 14 fret guitar will tell you they are different animals. Not saying one is better than...

    Re: Orlando, FL mandolin stores

Ken builds guitars. Peter Rowan plays one and has visited Ken's shop. I believe Weber is all he's selling at this time. Ken is also usually at Magnolia Festival in October and Rivehawk early...

    Re: Jimi Hendrix

Journey, that's a great story. Thanks. I saw Jimi in Honolulu, October of 68 at the HIC. My first rock concert, and still the best. Afterwards he showed up at an outdoor venue and jammed all night.
  8. Re: So What's the verdict: Sam Bush instructional DVDS/Download.

I don't have the new (DVD) one but all the previous ones. Sam is great. But his technique may not be the "proper" technique for you. I think he'd tell you to experiment and try different approaches....

    Re: "Slapback" by Josh Pinkham

Got it. Thanks for the heads up Art. I first saw Josh At Magfest. I think he was 13. I bought my first mandolin shortly after that and took a lesson with him a few years later. He's evolved into an...

    Re: Tampa Bay Bluegrass jams

You want to look up the Central Florida Bluegrass Association. Very active in that area with some great players. Sorry I can't provide a link but they are on Facebook. Get together once a month.

Huss and Dalton is probably the best value for a high quality dread out there right now. I have a TDR with Adirondack top and Brazillian back that is amazing.

Re: "Still Inside" The Tony Rice Story

I spoke with Tim this past summer at the MACC festival in Ohio. At that point they were looking for someone to do the forward. He said they had hoped for Allison but she couldn't do it. Didn't say...

    "Yew Piney Mountain"

The version I'm listening to is on Tim O'Brien's cd "The Crossing". Talk about a workout. Crooked rhythm I believe they call it. David Grier is insane on this.

Hey Dan, I've got a '24 serial number 77161. The script on mine is at a slant on the peghead where yours is pretty even. Otherwise they appear identical. I love the sound of mine. Plays real nice as...

Re: Looking for DVD to learn and apply scales

Mike's book of "Improvisational Concepts" will give you plenty of scales, arppegios, licks, etc. Not a DVD but would make a great advanced DVD. If Mike chose to do it. (Hint to Mike)
