Re: Free PDF's of Technical Exercises

It's still happening on my Mac. I tried using Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera with the same results. My Mac is running macOS 10.14.6, if that's at all significant.

    Thanks,

When I click on the Add To Cart link the link disappears but nothing appears in my cart. Clicking on the cart icon gives me a message that my cart is empty. What am I doing wrong?

    Re: Revelation Mandocaster Pickups

As a followup, I heard back from Entwistle mandolins, in fact from Alan Entwistle himself. Here's what he has to say on the pickups on the Revelation mandocaster:

So, I can either have a...

    Re: Revelation Mandocaster Pickups

I'm sure Steve Ryder's pickups sound great, but a matched pair would be half again as much as a matched pair from Almuse. I've always heard good things about Almuse pickups.

    Revelation Mandocaster Pickups

I just got a Revelation mandocaster. On the whole I like it, but plugged in it has the "Low E Problem" in spades. The E string is about half the volume as the G string.

    Given the wide disparity in...

Also for a Kala, what would the appropriate string guages be for GDAE tuning?

    Ibanez AVT2E

In looking for a new tenor I've seen a lot written about the Blueridge guitars, as well as Kala and Gold Tone. But not so much about the offerings from Ibanez. I'm particularly interested in their...

    Re: Parting Out A Dobro

Thanks, Pops. I've considered that but as I mentioned above, experienced professionals have told me that it's beyond repair. I think that parting it out is probably the best way to get some of my...

    Re: Parting Out A Dobro

Thanks, Allen. That was my thought, I wasn't sure if I wasn't seeing the parts listed because they were scarce or because nobody wanted them.

I brought the mando into Third Coast Guitars,...

    Parting Out A Dobro

I purchased a mid 30s Dobro resonator mando. Turns out that it needs way too much work done to make it playable. I'm wondering if there's a market for its parts like the spider bridge and coverplate....

    Re: Mid Missouri Hard Case

I get that it's intended as a travel mando (no binding, bolt-on neck), and that's fine since my intent is to have something to take camping and the like. And it came cheap on eBay. But I would think...

    Mid Missouri Hard Case

I just bought a Mid Missouri MM8 on eBay. I'd like to get a hard case for it but he ones on the Big Muddy website are a little out of my budget. Can anybody suggest a less expensive case that will...

    Re: Upgrading My Beater

Thanks for the replies. I'll try to respond to them all here.

My Kentucky is a newer all-solid model. What I'm finding is that as I play the Weber and especially the Vega more, the Kentucky sounds...

    Upgrading My Beater

    Hi folks,

I have two nice mandolins that I love dearly, a new Weber Gallatin and an old Vega flatback. I also have a Kentucky KM-250 that I use as a beater to take camping and the like. I don't...

    Kudos To The Mando Shop

I recently purchased a Weber Gallatin from The Mando Shop in Tallahassee, FL. It's a wonderful instrument, beautiful to look at and great tone as well.

I just wanted to give Kyle at the Mando Shop...

Re: Weber Gallatin Or J Bovier?

The Gallatin arrived today. It's gorgeous to look at, has wonderful tone, and is a heck of a lot of fun to play. It's a great instrument and Kyle did a very nice job of setting it up. Bruce Weber...

Re: Weber Gallatin Or J Bovier?

It does indeed look like a bargain. I passed on it for two reasons. The first is aesthetic. I really like the unadorned simplicity of the Gallatin. So for me, a Weber with less bling and binding...

Re: Weber Gallatin Or J Bovier?

I've heard so many good things about Kyle at The Mando Shop that I had no hesitation buying it from him. Very nice guy to do business with, he'll be setting it up with light gage strings for me.

Re: Weber Gallatin Or J Bovier?

Thanks for the opinions, folks. I've decided to purchase a new Gallatin from The Mando Shop.

There were a bunch of reasons for the decision, probably the biggest was Weber's longer track record...

That's for leftover 2012 models. The improved 2013 models fall into the higher price range, I believe.

Re: Weber Gallatin Or J Bovier?

Thanks for pointing that out. A big reason I've been looking at the Bovier is the large (apparent) price difference combined with the positive reviews I've seen around here of the Bovier. And the...
