Re: electric mandolin with octave pedal

In a bit of a rush, but I wanted to chime in. I have done this before. I have the Boss octave pedal - I don't recall the model number. It's a brown color.

I use it with a Mann 4 string...

Re: Summer humidity and instrument changing shape

I think you may be right that it just wouldn't be possible to solve this problem with a dehumidifier. It would be difficult to get one where I am.

A few folks have commented on the truss rod not...

Summer humidity and instrument changing shape

    Dear All,

First off, greetings. Long time see!

Question: My instrument (Kentucky KM1000B) has changed shape over the summer. The action is now too high to play comfortably and the bridge is at...

  7. Converting Guitar to Octave Mando String Gauges?

    Hi All,

I guess this is probably a question that has been posted about, but I haven't been able to find such a post.

I just converted my guitar into a 5 string octave mando.

    All I did was...

Re: Eight Miles High on Almuse 10-string

Cool. I wonder what the advantage of a 10 string is as opposed to a 5 string. Is it just the more mandolin-sound you get.

Re: Having fun with the "Mann"

That is sweet! 5 strings and carved top. Nice. I have string envy.
  10. Re: Buzzing and Power Supply (Pedal board question)

OK - So I have tested the theory and gotten the following results.

    1) The CS-2 always buzzes, no matter what I do. However the buzz is more distinct when plugged into the power of the board.

Re: Tuning and the first five frets

Every mandolin I have played on (only 5 :( ) has had this problem to some extent. Filing down the nut is the way to go, but I have struggled with this problem and never been able to get it just...
  13. Buzzing and Power Supply (Pedal board question)

    Greetings all,

Some time ago, some of you guys educated me a bit about the effect of power lines, grounds and power supplies on the buzzing noises that pedal boards can generate.

    This morning...

Re: Having fun with the "Mann"

Just one more thought - though the CS-2 adds sustain - it also compresses in the process and this has negative effect on the dynamic wah pedal. You can't put the CS-2 in front of the wah because...

Re: Having fun with the "Mann"

    Thanks!

It's interesting that you should feel this way. The CS-2 is one of my most important pedals.

The effect is surely the least distinct (and it does produce a significant amount of...

I have been booted from Mike Marshall's online school, until I get someone in the States to pay my tuition for another year (I am living in China and can't make the payment from here).

    Re: Buzzing problem, suggestions?

    Hi Guys.

Thanks for the suggestions! I don't believe the truss rod is too tight. Since the neck still has a slight concave arch and (although I know there are other factors involved) loosening...

    Buzzing problem, suggestions?

    Hi All,

Recently, I adjusted my truss rod and this helped me improve intonation. (Though I realize this is not the intended purpose of the TR)

However, now when I play the 7th fret, I get a...
