Re: A Different 6 string experiment...

My six string tuning is FCGDGA (low to high). If you miss out the higher G it gives you tuning in fifths. I use Fender Duo Sonics and Musicmasters with a 22.5" scale so the high A is easily...

Re: Tenor herd... I might have issues

The Gibson TGs from the 20s follow a pattern of: small body with large bridge with extra pin, then small body with very short rectangular bridge, then small body with longer rectangular bridge, then...

    Re: 2 1920s Gibson Tenors

L-4s have always had the outline and 16" lower bout of Goaty's pair as far as I know with only the soundhole arrangement changing - oval hole up to the end of the 20s, then a round hole, then F...

    Re: KALA KA-GTR tenor case?

Not knowing you the posts read like you're having a go at me but if that's not how they're intended we're all good. I can take a bit of ragging, honestly! Hope you get the case sorted.

    Would it...

    Re: KALA KA-GTR tenor case?

It's all good. I'm obviously lucky that no one so far has refused to pay my guarantee because I turned up with a gig bag, but I'll take it as fair warning. Fortunately when I'm on vacation around...

    Re: KALA KA-GTR tenor case?

Not always the manufacturer's fault when things like this go wrong. Lots of spanners can get thrown into the works when you're dealing with Chinese subcontractors and trying to coordinate shipping...

    Re: 2 1920s Gibson Tenors

The quickest way to date them if the FON isn't listed in Joe Spann's book is the bridge: the earliest have a fifth pin sitting behind the row of four. This was replaced with the very small bridge...

    Re: 2 1920s Gibson Tenors

The flat top L-1 never had a pearl inlay of any kind, but stayed with the old style 'The Gibson' in a silver silk screen until around 1932 when it changed to a white silk screen with only 'Gibson'. I...

    Re: New Ozark

I think the short scale makes a difference tonally - two inches is quite a difference. But then again it makes them a lot more approachable for fiddle players, and you don't snap strings as regularly...

    Re: New Ozark

It's replaced the previous version. I've played a couple of them and they're very nice, maybe even a little more open and sparklier than the previous one but pretty similar all round. Still the same...

Re: What do you play on your tenor guitar?

I guess i'm a little different than most on the thread... here's a track recorded with my SG tenor build. There's the odd low part by the other guitarist on a six string but the tenor is the lead...

    Re: my new electric tenors

Awesome, they look great! I used a 22" scale on my electric tenor build, and it's a really good scale for CGDA tuning - I wish more would adopt it.
  15. Re: from Mark Josephs..... EASTWOOD SG STYLE WITH BIXBY !!!

Wow, that looks great - if I hadn't made my own I'd be up for one of those.

Neko's white SG is pretty much my holy grail tenor.

Re: Electric tenor fans -- idea for Eastwood Custom

The ideal thing from a manufacturing point of view would be a body style that can be adapted simply by routing a different tenon mortice into the body. That way the neck is the only custom build part...

    Re: A stronger A string?

My SG electric tenor is a 22" scale, and it works far better in terms of string longevity. I'm mainly now using a 22.5" scale Fender Duo Sonic in a tenor derived tuning and even that little reduction...

Re: Pono nylon string tenor guitar?

According to Pono this is actually intended to be a nylon string tenor, not a baritone uke. This is from the Acoustic Guitar Forum:

"Traditionally a tenor guitar has been a "parlor" size body,...

    Re: 6 string tenor experiment

Yeah, I can't imagine successfully getting 6 strings in fifths onto a standard neck. Even fan fret, CGDAEB or BFCGDA is asking a lot. My tuning is more of a five string tenor with an extra string...
