I would go the other way and say the Gibson F5G. The mandolins coming from Gibson now are off the hook
in quality and sound. Both are nice, but theres nothing like a Gibson
Here it is...Its listed as a Mando-Guitar http://duesenberg.de/en/guitars/specials/mandola-12-string.html
Yes, Its a Duesenberg ...have no idea where they are from but I remebered it was in premier guitar magazine...Really Cool
I think you should consider a new Fern from Gibson !!!
I have been fortunate enough to have had both era mandolins including Master Models, and a Fern from Charlie and Danny, and now a post flood...
IMHO- I do believe that the Harvey Era post flood mandolins will soon repace the Derrington Era as far as the best time to buy a Gibson ...they are just coming out too good. Congrats on the new Axe.
I have owned both the Collings and Gibson Mandolins and like many have said its really unfair to compare them. They are designed and built for two different sounds and Looks. I grew up playing...
Boy, that is Tighter than a Tupperware Bowl....Amazing !!
Regarding Mr. Steffey playing the Northfield, I find it ironic that on all of his recordings you really cant tell a difference
between which mandolin he is playing. It could have been Apitius,...
Beatles or the Stones.....I prefer jumping in the ocean.
I am of the other mindset with Gibson. I just picked up a new F5G about a month ago and the work that Gibson is sending out now is in my opinion the best I have seen from Gibson in the last 20 years....
Kentucky first ....Then the Gibson second is my vote. Great Post by the way
Tim, great post on the new Gibson F9. If you say it compares to the Collings and even better, then it must be a Hoss.
I just this week got a new F5G and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I was...
I am looking at buying a F5G Gibson and I know that in the Guitar Center Chain
they have one that just came in to the Nashville Store...Has anyone been by there to play it? I am in Cincinnati and I...
@ Nick, thanks for the story about your dad, that made me laugh out loud ...... I am a Dad of two teens and I have almost
been there many times. I will just agree in some manner to your comment, but...
looks an awful lot like Danny Roberts to me...
I think the sad thing about Nashville, Country Radio and these award shows is how they have made it almost a purpose to stomp out traditional country music in not only the type of music, but also...
Great topic as I have had this discussion many times with church musicians
I play in a bluegrass band that does traditional stuff but also play in our church PW band that does a lot
of the above...
As I shared in a previous post, I am SOLD SOLD SOLD on QSC speakers. If you are playing smaller venues like you mentioned the
K8's would probably be enough. We just bought the K12's and they are...
Regarding Guitar center shipment...Its very quick and easy. We got our speakers in the store but had to have several items shipped, and they arrived in 2 business days.
There is a a notable difference between the 10 and 12's...for us running the bass through and also doing to accapella stuffs we went with the 12's. we played out last night with them and we are still...
We bought the K12 Speakers New for $659 each at Guitar Center and the 10"s were $100 cheaper and again were PLENTY
of speaker for just about any Grass band I have ever heard short of playing a huge...
Our band just bought a new speaker system about a month ago. We had Powered Mackies and were never happy with them sound wise nor reliability wise. I never post negative stuff on here, but in this...
Hi One Dude, I am in Cincinnati and have been playing Bgrass for 30 years. Unfortunately if you are looking for anything beyond Martin Guitars you are pretty much out of luck. Wildwood Music in...
Writing from Cincinnati....................First of all here are 6 loars in the Cincinnati /Dayton area :)
Being a life long resident of the area and being a player for almost 30 years, I will say...
