Re: Mandolin tuning on a ukulele

There are several uke players who play in this tuning. Most IIRC were classical players - i.e. fingerstyle, not strummed. The sound is more like a classical guitar than either a mando or a uke, IMO.

Mick, I may have asked you this before, but do any of the instruments in your files match any of the Payne Music School photo instruments?

IIRC an instrument like the one in the factory photo was one of the original instruments in the ebay emando thread. Ahh, the memories.. There's gotta be a similar shot of Indonesian workers with a...

    Re: 53 Harmony Tenor

OT, but do any of you Harmony heads know if they offered a tenor in the Catalina or Hollywood finish? Being from LA I've always been drawn to those, but didn't want/need a six stringer.

    If not,...

Re: Tenor Guitar Gallery & Sightings

Most of those have been posted before, on various violao tenor threads.. (as well as - I believe - this one!) But some have not; thanks!

    Re: Roy Smeck Harmony Tenor

The Vita instruments I've seen have all had beautiful flame mahogany back and sides. For $500 Canadian (assuming the "cracks" have been "stabilized") not a bad deal.

    Re: Maestro mandocello

That thing is not a mandocello, it is (or is attempting to be) a mandole, traditionally used for Algerian Chaabi music. I suppose it could be tuned and used as a mandocello, but I believe the scale...

    Re: OM style

Nothing to add, except like Bertram I too was immediately tickled by the idea of an OM without any style..

Or even better (for you Martin guitar fans), an OM-style OM. :p

    Re: Rigel A Natural

Neither; I thought it was stupid to risk such a lowball bid (thinking it would go for much higher on the open market). But I may be proven wrong if it sells below the BIN price. NFI

Well, it will, just not for the BIN price. Whoever put that first bid in (instead of just buying it) was... not smart.

My suggestion was not intended for a commercial venture, but technically, Bill is correct. Some online tshirt printers will not print copyrighted designs as well.
