  3. Re: Lowering Bridge height on The loar LM600 Mandolin

I guess your assumption that I know absolutely nothing caused me to use a word. "derr" in my vocabulary is a jocular referrence to someone stating the obvious. Btw I work in a high-end machine shop...
  4. Re: Lowering Bridge height on The loar LM600 Mandolin

Excuse me hedgehog but your snarky and presumtuous remark is the reason I felt compelled to say DERR!!! WOW you really are a sensitive lot. And Mod- come on now man, you know damned well I am no...

  6. Re: Lowering Bridge height on The loar LM600 Mandolin

A mechanic would be good for putting a new head gasket in your Volvo, but idk if any mechanic no matter how many ASE certifications he has, would really be any better at fitting a mandolin bridge...
  7. Re: Lowering Bridge height on The loar LM600 Mandolin

I know fitting a bridge isnt easy. Derr thats why it isn't on there right now. The luthier is an hour and a half away.

    Re: Loar vs Kentucky

As a happy The Loar owner, I'll say that I'd personally rather have a comparable Kentucky with a radius. Both are pretty popular and sell very well.

    Re: A-5 vs A

Man all these oval vs f threads make me really want to buy another mandolin. Mines an A5 and has a beautiful tone but I'd love a round hole mando for the many hours just sitting in my living room.
  10. Re: Lowering Bridge height on The loar LM600 Mandolin

I have been fairly insulted by some folks on here but in the end most exchanges end in some sort of peaceful resolution ot at least an agrreement to disagree :)

    Re: Bill Monroe Movie news!

    I think so^^

If a Bill Monroe movie is made, I just hope that its better than that aweful travesty of a movie they made about Mr. Cash.

Re: How hard is mando to learn

Thats why I like the Allen. I think in a couple weeks I'm going to order one.
  15. Re: New to mandolin - what's good for under $300?

A well setup Kentucky is a good value. I really want a 174. Oval hole in burgundy. Waiting on a good retailer to get some in. :whistling:

Re: Greetings from a thankful newbie!

Try out some Golden Gate picks. They're cheap and I have been enjoying mine 89¢ apiece. And you can make a good strap yourself easy with leather boot laces. Congrats on your decision. Let us know how...

Re: Thinking of upgrading my tailpiece

I have one of the Deco's mentioned above on my Bulldog. Maybe I'll buy the Allen and put it on the Bulldog and put the Deco from the BD on the 520.

    Thinking of upgrading my tailpiece

I'm really starting to enjoy my Loar 520. It took a few weeks but its really grown on me. Its setup okay, but I'm planning on having a local luthier do a few things in the near future.

  25. Re: Normal folks just having fun with mandolins! :)

Nice. We just sipped on a bit of whiskey, enjoying the 70° temps and played dixie and amazing grace for a couple hours...
