    Hey everyone,
My house was broken into last week, and one of the things we lost was my well-loved Eastman 515.. :( I'm not expecting anyone to see it anytime soon since we live in North Africa (it...

Re: Advice for a potential player.

I would go for it. Instruments are never confined to a certain genre just because that's how the majority uses it. If you love the sound (and yes, it IS easier than the violin), you should love to...

Re: Punch Brothers: Who's Feeling Young Now

I'd like to hear more solos too, but yes, I think it is definitely that they are moving more toward the whole indie rock thing, and too many solos often is part of what make people who are biased...
  5. Re: Frank Solivan offering mandolin lessons this week in Minneapo

Just to let you guys know, Frank, as well as of course being an amazing musician, is also a GREAT teacher. I had the pleasure of taking a private guitar/mandolin lesson with him and I really got a...

    WD40 for lubing tuning machines?

    Hey folks,
I think it's about time I should lube my tuners, but I'm wondering which lubricant to use. I have plenty of WD40, but I don't know how well that would work. Have any of you tried it? How...

Re: post a video of yourself

Thanks Goodin. Those look nice, but they're also expensive, and I'm trying to keep the cost as low as possible for now.

Re: K&K Internal -- How hard to install?

    Thanks guys,
If it would be a risk to install it myself or I would have to send it to a luthier, I would probably lean towards the twin fusion pickup instead; I don't think it looks bad, and it...

Re: K&K Internal -- How hard to install?

Hmm, so if I just used a plain ol' hand drill to try to enlarge the endpin hole, how big would the risk be that I would do something bad to the instrument? (considering that I am not too experienced...

K&K Internal -- How hard to install?

    Hey folks,
Well, I'm thinking of getting a K&K mandolin pickup, preferably the internal. It says in the manual that it should be installed by a professional, but it really doesn't seem like that...
  20. Re: "Catching" both strings in a course while picking

Just make it feel natural. If you have to really concentrate on hitting both strings while you're playing, don't do it! If it sounds fine to hit only one string, and that's how your hand naturally...
