RIP Roland
In case it does happen to be a ribbon microphone, make sure to NOT have phantom power turned on in your mixer or preamp when you try it out.

That's an easy one!

I too had 2 of the Hercules stands develop the stickiness on the adjustment handle. I emailed Hercules customer support with pictures of the stands and they sent me replacements..no questions asked....

Am I missing something or wouldn't Don Julin's Nugget currently listed in the Classifieds with "The Gibson" inlayed on the headstock fall into this same category? Disclaimer or not, it seems the...
Perry,
I use the Hercules double stand, which works great for guitar (acoustic or electric) and mandolin. I did take some inert rubber hose cut to 1.5" or so, slit lengthwise and slipped over the...
Granted, there are other products out there that are self-lubricating, but most intriguing to me is the durability and tone. Yes, the hardness of the bridge and nut do have an impact on the sound. ...
I know that the material used for Blue Chips picks is astronomically expensive. I also know from my own experience with several picks and from reading many Forum entries that the material has a lot...
Auto-Tune is just another tool..you can choose to use it or not. Digital is here to stay, whether it's the Zoom Hn4 recorders many of us use or a Snark tuner. Just like a splicing block in the old...
How lucky I am to have Gryphon be my local neighborhood shop. Only a half mile from my house, I can't count the times I've detoured there on my way home from work. 45 minutes there spent playing...
I'm a fan of having my instruments out. My 1911 Gibson A4 hangs by my desk, and I found the perfect spot for my Eastman 815v in the living room.

I'm a big fan of the TP-1R XX shapes, in either the 50 or 60 gauge thickness. This style gives you two of the regular pointed corners and one rounded corner that is nice for songs that have lots of...
Hi energyflux00
Welcome to the forum! You didn't mention the name of the song so I'm going to be guessing a bit here.
If the song is in the key of A, and all the chords are diatonic or native...
Here is the handle I bought.
Bill
I bought a vintage-looking handle from Janet Davis Music for around $13. It's brand new and certainly didn't match the patina of the case for my 1911 Gibson A4 blacktop. I put the handle in a coffee...
Can you imagine keeping such an ensemble in tune? No Snarks or Petersons in 1902
Bill
To me, if you have to get something signed, why not have them sign the case? It's a companion to the mandolin but not as "tacky" as having the instrument signed.

Check out Chicago Music Exchange on Lincoln Avenue.

First, let me say I have no financial interest in this post.
Gryphon Strings in Palo Alto has starting selling Frank's string winders.
Looks like a great tool that should last a lifetime. ...
Looks like there is a wood stringer running the length top which supports the bridge/string pressure. Makes sense as its hard to imagine the styrofoam being able to support the high pounds per...
Frank Ford at Gryphon Strings in Palo Alto replaced a missing chunk of fretboard binding on my 1911 A4. He had an old ivoriod plate that he salvaged from a yard sale that worked perfectly.

I replaced the handle on my 1911 A4 case with one of these from Janet Davis Music. I took the handle, put it in a jar of clean kitty litter and shook it for 5 minutes to give the leather...
I would add another tip. Start recording on your laptop and the audio recorder and, before you start to play, clap your hands together on camera, holding them closed when you hands come together. ...
