Re: That Wonderful Collings Aroma (???)

I bought a new Collings OM2HGSS and was also intoxicated by the aroma. I contacted Collings to ask about it. I was told that it was the TKL case not the instrument. If I could buy it I would apply...
  3. Re: Ouch! Just wondering what everyone's playing limit is

King John died after a feast at Newark castle on the night of 18 October 1216 from dysentery. I live just a few miles away. As you can see from the photo it's still not finished. English construction...
  4. Re: Ouch! Just wondering what everyone's playing limit is

I was in the Royal Mandolin Regiment
  5. Re: Ouch! Just wondering what everyone's playing limit is

Love the last sentence in Tobin's post (I live in England. We're commemorating the signing of Magna Carta this year. It was signed in 1215 :-))

    Good to know - thanks
  7. Re: U.S. DoT Issues Final Rule - Air Travel with Musical Instrume

EasyJet in the UK allows mandolins as hand baggage even if they are notionally too long. Others are just awkward and unhelpful.
  8. Re: What Kind of Chromatic Tuner Do you Like and Use??

The Snark works well for me. It's very bright and accurate. The chromatic guitar one which is cheaper than the all instrument version works fine on the mandolin. The Intellitouch tuner I used...
  9. Re: Sam Bush's 40th Telluride Anniversary Gibson Mandolin

With regard to the tune it's the Battle of Trafalgar hornpipe (at least it is called that over this side of the pond )

    Re: Summit Artist

It's a joy to photograph (and of course to play). It brings a lump to the throat every time I look at it. The workmanship is stunning. I am so proud to have temporary custody of this instrument.

    Pegasus Cases - after sales

As the owner of a Pegasus case for the last few years I just thought that I should commend the after sales service which Sam Gifford provides. This is an A1 company owned by a man who goes the extra...

Re: Thile Bach CD has Landed

I bought Rachel Podger's double album of the complete sonatas and partitas played on baroque mandolin in 2002. The Thile album is a very welcome addition to my collection. ;)

Re: Searching for Gotoh MA 40 tuners

Got them relatively quickly (main delay as a consequence of UK customs). Replaced my existing tuners on Breedlove Quartz OF with them without any problems. Work a treat!

    Re: Strap survey

Strap is attached to a strap button on the heel and the end pin. Breedlove have a drawing on their web site on where to fix the button on the heel.

Can anyone tell me where I can source a set of these tuners? Ideally from the UK but that's not essential.
