Worth another look....my '07 Brentrup M23V, aka "Der Bogle" in blackburst!
Tom- I moved here (Daytona area) in March, and haven't run across any Bluegrass yet....the search continues! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
Dr. Brentrup:
I see that you still have some of that black stain left.
That is an amazingly elegant piece of work, and the James "deco" tailpiece complements it dramatically.
Please ship...
"Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head" still makes my hair hurt after all of these years.
Kenny Baker's "Bluegrass in the Backwoods"....for me it doesn't get much better than that. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
All the best, Joe....I'll be sure to stop by next trip!
That's just a little bit of Byron's humorous side surfacing, Saska. Besides being a musical genius, he's also incredibly funny, and tells some of the BEST Bluegrass stories.
...
I would HOPE that you're represented in that gallery, Mary! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I was very pleased to see a few photos of my blackburst 23 with the...
So does Pete Rose http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
Uh, let's see......Johann D. Brentrup and Johann D. Brentrup, respectively. Why perform intentional cosmetic harm (distressing excepted, of course) to a fine musical instrument? It's worse than...
Although I remain slightly partial to a certain other blackburst mandolin, I must admit that this Stealth is particularly attractive. I'm thinking that you do this rather well, Dr. B....
I forget what key it was in, Red....I'm at the office and don't have a recording of it here, but it sounded like Bob Yellin capoed up about 20 frets to play that thing!...
I was at Craig's for a visit Saturday afternoon, and had a bit more time to play the H-5. He's raised the action a bit, yet it's still very comfortable to play, probably due to the lower string...
Craig brought this sweet baby by my office on Tuesday afternoon, and I had a brief opportunity to play it and give it a good lookover. I'm telling you, he's done a magnificent job on this...
When XM plays an Earl Brothers track, I switch to the jazz station. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleepy.gif
In the Bluegrass/acoustic genre, "Sugar Plums" is far and away my favorite Holiday disc. Peter Rowan and (most of) The Nashville Bluegrass Band doing "Christmas Time's a Comin'", John Starling...
Less than 1 year after taking delivery on my M21V in January, ‘04, MAS struck again, so I spoke with Hans about constructing another marvel for me…..for this one, I wanted a “banjo-killing,...
Joe,
I'm sure that I have both of these LP's at home and I'll be glad to transfer them to cd format for you if they're not available....just shoot me a PM.
Steve
Thanks, Michael.........but what about the mandolin?? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Thank you all for the kind comments....it is quite striking and unique, isn't it? This will be my second Brentrup, and I'm certainly looking forward to picking it up. Hans had offered to ship it, but...
The mando that Curious refers to is being built for me, and I feel the wait will be truly worth it. Insofar as the stain, I'm pretty sure that it's Hans' concoction, and not an "off-the-shelf"...
Dr. Brentrup,
That mando looks great!!!
Makes me wish that I'd ordered the optional back and fingerboard!
And no, this mandolin will not be the "successor" to the 21MTV at all, but rather...
My all-time favorite "A" model, the prototypical "21MTV", as Dr. Brentrup allows me to call it (tongue-in-cheek), depicted here being held hostage in a basement, somewhere in Minnepoppolis prior to...
Let's not forget the great Ed Neff (Nugget #1)!
You can scratch Alison & Union Station, along with Jerry Douglas' performances from the XM schedule, as Kyle Cantrell has announced that these artists have "respectfully declined" to allow their...
