Very nice!
Mandolin Mick,
I have Rattlesnake #001, dated 1991. Great mandolin!
I have a '91 A-5G with his signature and I thought this was about the time he left Gibson.
I thought the 95's & 96's were signed bu Balian and Weber, maybe not.
Anyone know how long he signed Gibsons?
I can't remember who it belongs to, but I like this one:
"The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse to the trap gets the cheese!"
Only time I got to see him was in the mid 50's at the Hammond Civic Center in one of those Grand Ol' Opry tours. He must have been 18-20 years old and was FANTASTIC even at that age. Imagine,...
Ashville Brigade. Never know, with this name you may get some accidental gigs.
Our dog's name is "Sophie", not because of Sophie Tucker or Bette Midler, but because it's short for Sophelia.
A lot of us were wearing overalls when Mr. Compton was still sporting a ponytail.
Seems that a member here makes a very good looking T.P. and I think it may be Mr. Hamlett. I don't know if you can buy one without buying a mandolin with it, but they really are beautiful.
Gerrymando said,"It is the "compound dovetail" that has me confused"
Think of a standard dovetail that is tapered. Now visualize the same dovetail also tapered on it's face and you have a compound...
Be careful,it's addictive!!
Can you say,"FQMS" or "Stew-Mac"?
OH MAH GAWD!!
Second the bootlace, only I take a pair and braid the part that goes over the shoulder with noose-knots on each end.
Makes a functional, good looking strap for about $3.00.
Their bass player has one of the BEST voices in bluegrass,
IMHO.
1987 Buick Grand National and 2005 Tacoma pick-up that each cost more than all my mandolins but are not worth more to me.
Best I've ever dealt with is Herb Trotman @ Fretted Instruments in Homewood, Al.
Early 1950's, "Cry,Cry,Darlin'" by the Master.
JOHN,
IF YOU STILL HAVE IT IN OCTOBER, PLEASE,PLEASE BRING IT AND SOME OF YOUR TAILPIECES TO IBMA!
I have a '94 Flatiron A5-1 in the classifieds. Answer ad and I'll e-mail pics.
Steve,
What would be wrong with saying, "I'll bring the My Aniane
to the jam tonight"? Most of your pickin' buddies are going
to know you're talking about YOUR mandolin, so "my" would
really be...
I think it is a terrific name!! At least it's not another
"The Something". Seems you have already built a connection with the mandolin community under that name and changing it this late could...
You mean you have to change the strings?
