As John says...although Big Bends Nut Sauce is good stuff with a tremolo.
A brace of mini Flying Vees......

The black `68 style 8 string is a customer order but I thought it might be fun to make a `58 style spec` build in parallel. The `58 is built from Idigbo, a...
I read in a guitar magazine that Eccleshall guitars are finished with "Rustins Plastic Coating"......thought that if it`s good enough for Mr. Eccleshall, it must be worth a try so bought a litre!...
Yikes!!!!! Just looked up the HBMA500 and Thomann are now shifting them for £80.00 ($124).....I should be buying them in and upgrading them myself .....and I notice they`re not just sunburst...
Thanks very much Paul.....fifty years down the line, my babies should look rather nice!
Another Almuse humbucker clip (2 wire classic) with and without effects ;)

BTW, This isn`t me....:whistling:
Thanks John, an excellent post.....pretty much the way I feel and work - No way could I just churn out the same patterns day in day out!
I started with guitars before getting into the smaller...
Maybe a long shot but I`m building a couple of electrics inspired by the `58 "Korina" V and Explorer.
Limba (Terminalia Superba) isn`t easily available here so I`ve used Idigbo (Terminalia...
Just a cheapo guitar trem ....the base plate was cut down from 6 string to 5 using a Dremel with cutting disc and a hacksaw then cleaned up.....look carefully and you can see the 6th saddle screw...
Another DIY hint........If you know how much clearance you want above the first fret, simply select the appropriate blades on a set of feeler gauges and strap the gauges tightly on the neck next to...
A cheap source for finishing nut slots is a set of welding nozzle files. For plain strings, an Xacto razor saw (typical model making stuff) is handy - cheap and available in various thicknesses...but...
Thought I`d share this......I know the Guitarra Baiana makers have been doing this for years but it was a whole new challenge......damned fussy things to set up :crying:100974
As well as the nut, it`s worth checking the neck pitch.....every Mandobird and Mandocaster clone I`ve set eyes on had the same problem - a horizontal neck pocket. If your bridge saddles are as low as...
Sounds like you have a Moongazer......whatever, the wiring scheme is the same as Seymour Duncan - I did this intentionally since the SD site offers a plethora of wiring diagrams......
Red and white...
Heard it lasted longer so have just done a couple of instruments......a joy to work with - once my Nickel Silver stock is finished, it`s EVO all the way!
Bill, Is your pickup a 2 wire or 4 wire?......(or have you modified the pickup wiring)?
Bit of a mystery that one......Although I`m now making the Classic as a 4 wire (easier to produce), the older ones are two wire humbuckers so the red core signal wire goes to the left volume tag...
Just a thought re. refrets, glue shouldn`t be a problem if pulling the frets hot.....definitely they way to go in my experience since rosewood and especially ebony tend to splinter if the frets are...
My preferred method for an unbound board is superglue.......
Very small container with some thin superglue....using a cocktail stick/toothpick dab a drop onto each slot (two or three frets at a...
Since I`m not sticking to one pattern all the time, I have to be flexible (sure, if all you ever make are "A"s & "F"s then jigs make sense) .....so I`ve designed a pattern with the post centres on an...
[QUOTE=Verne Andru;1144987]They use the plural of "magnet," so if you take from that they've done a humbucker design, they'll be very quiet as well.

Sorry, not a humbucker.....each pole...
Definitely.....customer request....perhaps I`m stupid...perhaps I like a challenge......maybe a bit of both :))
This is the first tremolo I`ve done on a mando but I did scratch build a 4 string...
Plus, the output from the rope style piezo is very weak so some kind of preamp/booster is needed....which also means hiding a 9volt battery somewhere :(
The only piezo I`ve ever come across that...

My first electric with a Floyd Rose vibrato.....routing finished today.....
Body is sapele with a North American maple neck, rosewood board. Pickups will be a humbucker at the bridge and a...
