    Re: A Great Gear Bag

I had a leather bag that I used to own. Never really used it, but my daughter delighted in calling it my "murse." So I guess that the murse still lives.

Re: Rigel G110 Custom for sale soon

I think I saw an old Chevy Tradesman van with that exact paint job once.

It needs a bumper sticker that says "if this mandolin's a rockin, don't come knockin"

Maybe a fish eye window in the...

    Re: Mandolins in progress

Interesting. Makes me think of something a jester would play in the king's court, or something.

Is that Petoskey stone polished? I do a lot of that kind of work; cabbing and polishing of stone...

Re: Silverangel 100 year old red spruce

I have always loved the look of the artwork you put on (all of?) your mandolins. Makes them different, in a good way. Never played one, but maybe someday.

    Re: Mandolin straps

For braided straps: Depends on what the leather is treated with. Many braiders use one or more substances on the leather to asist the threads in laying properly next to each other when braiding. ...

    Re: Mike Osgar mandolin

I really like that one too. I like the stag horn motif on the headstock.
  12. Re: Scrolls on Peghead now patented by Gibson?

If I ever got around to building my own mandolin I think I would put a poison ivy inlay on it anyway, so fooey on Gibson for hogging all the great flora. :)
  13. Re: Retail selling price vs. selling cheap

As a collector of many things, I must say that I live by the credo that list price is for suckers. Anyway, the market is a product of pressures to sell high and buy low. Sounds to me like the...
  14. Re: what to do with an inexpensive instrument with a serious prob

I've got a messed up Romanian mandolin I was thinking of making into a bird feeder, and a guitar I was thinking of making into a planter. Haven't quite figured it all out yet, but I will eventually....

Re: If This Thing Could Talk?

Ive actually got a few "instruments" in my collection that are on the same quality level as this thing. I usually buy them on a lark at antique shows I frequent. Ill post a photo or two if anyone...
  16. Re: OCTAVE RESONATOR MANDOLIN want to buy

Pretty sure Keith Carey makes a commodium OM. He's linked in the builder db. But if you have no idea what I am talking about, brace yourself before you look.
  17. Re: Hutto Heritage Monroe F5 relic - lots of pics

Well, I myself would qualify as "legal counsel," and the whole thing sounds hinky to me. Obviously the OP has more facts than I, but I would have a thousand questions. Hopefully what he was given...
  18. Re: mandolin case with Bill Monroe graphic on Ebay

Thank you for sharing. Ill just say "ICK." Personally I can't stand it, but I know tastes can vary and some will love it. Honestly though, to me its not quite as bad as that Kentucky mandolin that...

Re: Which armrest maker do you recommend?

Mike Black made me a killer armrest for my mandolin. Not sure if he sells them separetly, but he really did a good job. It was comfortable and tall.
  20. Re: Total Instrument Insurance exiting the building?

An "inland marine" policy insures cargo on the move across land. What you need is an instrument endorsement.

I have USAA as well. I pay about $26/month for just under $10K coverage. It has gone...

    Re: #14 The Black A4

My wife was very, very pleased with the results.

I tell you what though, seriously, #14 is an awesome instrument. I am not the best mando player in the world. As a result I always felt guilty...
