I'm much better at shaking water off of my right hand than I was before I played mandolin
Posting in the pick thread in hopes of being picked to win a pick!
Okay, I'm convinced. If you can't see it, it must not be there. Maybe if I quit looking at it, I won't see it either! ;)
I can. My Gibson is only four years old. The yellowish / brownish color that is visible mainly in the center of the word "Gibson" should still be white, like the rest of the letters. When I click...

Here's my offending tuner, FZone seems to be the brand name.

...and here's the discoloration on my peghead. Any ideas on how to safely remove the stain?
Interesting thread. I picked mine because I'm not just high & lonesome, but "Highly Lonesome".
Brad, it was pretty much a no-name that I bought from The Mandolin Store a few years ago. I don't have it with me now, but it resembled the Intellitouch you have pictured in post #18.
I have some discoloration on the "Gibson" inlay on the front of the headstock of my Jam Master from a cheap clip-on tuner. I've tried some light buffing, to no avail. The pad material on this tuner...
...and by the way, I still can't stand the name!
Well, my Jam Master A is the best mandolin I've ever owned (then again it is also the ONLY mandolin I've ever owned, if mandolas don't count), and I don't plan on selling it anytime soon.
As much as I'm a fan of a Bill Monroe and the style he created, I may be an even bigger fan of Compton's take on Monroe's style.
Not bad, indeed.
That's funny, because I actually was just dusting off "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" last night. It falls pretty nicely in the first position in A minor, with two octaves available within the first...
Don't loose it, and you might not lose it. ;)
On the other hand, at this point if I had Marty's mandolin, I wouldn't change a thing! If you start scratchin' on my truck, that's different.
Jesse, I found it here. No financial interest.
I started the Artistworks lessons with Mike back in March, right after the "Mandolin Mashup" (sponsored in part by the good ol' Mandolin Cafe). The personal attention you get from Mike is...
I recognize the Dawg....is that JD in the middle (if so, where's his Crowe?) and Larry Rice on the right?
Mike, thanks for the food tips and the scoop on parking at Lady & Sons. I made our reservations several weeks ago. We may try Paula's brother's restaurant, as well.
Thanks also to everyone for...
Well, I'm not really hearing the "western" on "My Last Days On Earth", either, but to me they both have a haunting, cinematic feel. It's a vague connection...
Thanks for all of the suggestions! We are leaving Thursday morning, and heading back home on Monday. I'm looking forward to a long weekend with good food, some history, a little beach time, and...
Andy Statman's "Flatbush Waltz" is a tune that comes to mind.
Any rattlesnake that I spot in my yard will quickly become endangered. The rattles in my Martin came from a 6-foot rattler that was FIGHTING another rattlesnake in my friend's yard last summer. I...
Any new "must-see" or "must-do's" in Savannah? I'm going next week.
You leave your four-year-old inside your mandolin?!? Does (he / she) keep the mice out?
