Re: Considering a Blue Chip Pick?

I have the CT55 and LOVE it. I was skeptical as to how much of an effect it could have on tone, but it really does bring out richer and cleaner notes, and my playing and technique definitely...

Re: My new "Blemish" Eastman MD315

The finish may be it they. Thankfully, I like the "old leather" look!

Thanks! And yes, it definitely sounds as good as it looks. I still haven't found the "blemish" either...

Re: My new "Blemish" Eastman MD315

Thanks! I really like the tone it has.

The Mandolin Store is a great place to get gear from. I definitely recommend them, folkmusician, Gianna violins, and elderly.

Re: My new "Blemish" Eastman MD315

I agree, especially the color. The last one I had was very red in color, but this one is much more brown. It looks great on the wall next to my Martin 000-15M :mandosmiley:

Re: My new "Blemish" Eastman MD315

I was actually in the market for the A style MD305 because I just really wanted an Eastman again because I really like their tone. When I got an email about the sale from The Mandolin Cafe, I...

Re: My new "Blemish" Eastman MD315

I'm guessing the binding maybe? I had one of these a couple years ago, and the binding was solid white. The binding on this one looks like it layered, or like it has grooves cut in it all the way...

    My new "Blemish" Eastman MD315

I just picked up one of the "Blemished" Eastman MD315's from The Mandolin Store's Eastman Blem Sale. As you can see, the mandolin is clearly horribly disfigured with cosmetic blemishes......
  12. Re: What breaks or solos have you learned note for note?

Chris Thile's intro to "Ode to a Butterfly". Can't play it at his speed of course :mandosmiley:

Re: Tone woods vs tone ices

True... I question how well these instruments would tolerate the heat here in NW Florida though...

    Tone woods vs tone ices

So have I been overlooking tone ice as a platform for my instruments?

Re: Punch Brothers "This Girl" Tabs/Chords

Some of the live performances are played a half step up from the album version. From watching them I don't think the chords are an octave higher, but are just played higher up the neck on lower...

Re: Punch Brothers "This Girl" Tabs/Chords

To clarify, I found that video online, it's not me. The chords he uses in the video are not what Chris plays, but I think they sound pretty good with the song. I would love to figure out how Thile...

Best armrest for AT35 clip on mic

I recently got a AT35 clip on mic for my Breedlove FF mandolin. I used it for an open mic a couple weeks ago, and the only place I could clip it was by pulling the tonegard back, clipping the mic to...
  21. Re: Who to buy from: The Mandolin Store vs. The Mandolin Hut

    Re: Mandolin nut widths

I went from a Rogue (not sure on nut width) to an Eastman MD315 with 1 3/32" nut and radiused fingerboard and loved it. I went from the Eastman to a Gibson F9 with a 1 1/16" nut width and flat...
