I'll clean mine up before taking you on a tour. Looks like a hurricane went through it.
You are going to have to play it. I have built fiddles and guitars with black walnut. I love to work with it. It is a terrific tonewood.
Elderly Instruments in Lansing Michigan does great work. Luckily, only 100 miles from me.
How long should i wait to wet sand and buff the Stew Mac rattle can laquer???
That is a real beauty. Any idea what happened to it??? I wouldn't try it myself.
I switched from left to right as a teen. My older brother had restrung his old Airline to lefty for me. When i wanted a better guitar like my buddies had, i couldn't find a lefty so i bought a...
320 and 400 grit paper with a light touch and patience. Scraper with a light touch works, too.
Yep. Truly great to deal with.
2 cents. I have one with medium guitar frets, one with smaller mando wire. The one with larger wire seems, for me, much easier to play. It's like my left hand fingering has to be more precise and...

I have bent a lot of cherry for OM guitars and fiddles. I have never had a problem. I wet it and bend immediately. It will scorch if you pause in one spot, if your pipe is too hot. Just go slow. The...
I agree with John. If you are going to build instruments from wood, you will have to control humidity. For me this meant insulating the shop with a vapor barrier and using a dehumidifier in the...
I build violins (fiddles) and guitars and i use spool clamps. The trick is to assemble the guitar dry and line everything up. Then remove a few clamps and use a warm pallette knife to spread HHG into...
Conversion varnish? Got me. I never heard of such a thing. I would suspect that it is a product that is supposed to be an alternative to regular old oil varnish that dries quickly. I wonder what it...
