I just bought my 2nd Pomeroy from Don.
This is a (in his words) "bare bones" oval hole A, to join my 2 point violin style built in 2018.
His fit and finish and choice of woods is wonderful....
Reach out to Don...I'm sure would be happy to make you one -
Wait until I get your armrest on it! I'll be sure to post pics
I had a Campanella Due for awhile and you're right: the construction is the same (both Don and Joe are violin makers).
The Campy had a delicate sound; clarity of tone and also an emphasis on the...
I should add Don made a pick guard for me as well....I'm also adding an ebony arm rest ordered from Doug Edwards of Hill Country Stringworks.
If you don't know Doug's work, you should...another...
Here's a pic: the more I play it, the more I like it....and yes, it is the one on his site.
Besides wonderful depth of tone, it has one of the most comfortable necks I've ever played. I find the...
Built like a violin...haven't played it a lot yet, but out of the box, the instrument already had a voice. Seemed to emphasize the highs, but overall very balanced and if I wanted to, would be a...
I owned one for awhile (not this one)...a marvelous instrument...played quite well, with a sound that was well suited to classical, jazz, swing or old-time...never took it out to play chop chords.

I just purchased one; got one new for dealer cost - just couldn't pass it up.
I've played a couple of oval holes in the past, I like the sound as a player and since I'm exclusively a swing and...

Saxophones and trumpets are pitched in Bb and Eb...so when guitarists call for tunes in E or C (those that haven't mastered barre chords) it pitches the horns in F# or C# (alto sax) or D and A: not...
Thanks Mandobart, this is a travel kickaround mandolin, so I was trying to not spend too much...and just changed strings, so the prospect of changing the bridge...but something I have been thinking...
Well, can't do relief: there's no truss rod on the Muddy's...nor is the bridge adjustable.
Yeah, playing around with the nut might not be a bad idea. I might try filing down the 11th fret and see...
I have recently acquired a Big Muddy koa...very nice sounding mandolin...the sound reminds me of a Weber Oval hole I had some time ago.
However; two things bother me, both on the 3rd string, the...
Great stuff, Pete...thanks for posting.
Eldon was truly a master of the electric guitar and who seemed to absorb a great deal from both Charley Christian and Freddie Green
In 1996 when eBay was just getting off the ground, it was really the first of it's kind.
Brick and mortar shops had limited (if any) online presence and forums had not yet gotten to the point...
I happen to own a Campanella mandolin.
A two point (is that a duetto?) with the violin appointments...after owning and playing Flatirons, Gibsons (inlcuding one signed by Bruce Weber), Weber's,...
