Re: Gibson Army Navy label source?

Just my thoughts, but I wouldn't put a copy of anything in any of my old Gibson's. if they're damaged at least you have half a chance on resale. If it's a copy then they may think the whole mandolin...
  3. Re: How much should I ask? Weber Black Ice Octave + mandolin

I normally ask 2 thirds of the new price, yours would be easy to work out but I think to get one buyer to purchase both together you'd have to lower the prices a bit more.

Re: It has finally happened (HELP!)

Re: It has finally happened (HELP!)

I used Blutack on a piece of wire to get a pick out of my F hole mandolin, chewing gum would so a similar job.

Re: Sir Paul on Mandolin Mondays

I've got a picture of me writing right handed but I defiantly write and play left handed, I then realised the negative was upside down which reversed the image.

Re: Sir Paul on Mandolin Mondays

He is actually right handed but plays for some reason as a lefty.
  8. Re: 1929 Gibson A Mandolin with OHSC - $1350 (Poughkeepsie)

Those tuners don't look to be off an A1, they look more like they should be on a Junior but still a great price.
  9. Re: Sorry for posting a uke clip, but this 10-year-old?

    Oh Wow!
  10. Re: Inexpensive Mandolin with longer scale length and wide nut wi

I play a Fylde Touchstone and it has a slightly longer neck than most mandolins and a wider nut as well.

Did you get a deposit off them in the first place, if so then the deposit and mandolin are now yours.

    Wax Finish Removal?

Hi. I have an old Gibson Army/Navy from the early 1900s but the finish is definitely wax. I know this because I can carefully scratch the finish off with my nail.
I was wondering how to remove this...

    Re: Playing a slippery bowlback...

A piece of dashboard rubber helps and you don't need to fasten it or stick it. This is the sort of rubber you lay on your dashboard to stop things sliding around.

I'm stuck for words my friend. I hope the diagnosis is incorrect and we still get the pleasure of your banter here on M/C.

Re: Was he really a lefty?

I didn't want this to be a left/right handed debate, but, if I had developed the first of anything I would have made the first one a lefty so I could use it!

I heard today that Orville Gibson was left handed, is this true, and would his prototypes have been lefties?
