Thanks Jonas! It sure is a good 'un.
Thanks for your encouraging words!
Statman? Yes, he's definitely an inspiration, especially his eclectic and dynamic approach to playing... mixing bluegrass with jazz and folk music.
Summer?...
Recorded only using a Zoom H2, GarageBand and my beloved Kimble A5.
The song is called "Idas sommarvisa", melody by Georg Riedel and lyrics (though not included in my recording) by Astrid...
Great record Jonas! And that Campanella surely sounds awesome in your hands.
I own a wonderful tenor guitar built by David Sundberg, Sweden, as seen in this thread.
And I know of two other Swedish luthiers that has built tenor guitars...
Tyko Runesson (though living i...
Congrats guys! Nice sounding and looking Duffs!
Thanks guys!
I'm really pleased with this tenor guitar... it's the perfect cross-bread between mandolin och guitar. I can drive it really hard if I choose to, to get those really punchy...
I was browsing through my old Garageband recordings and found this one. At bit rough, true, but I thought some of you might be interested in hearing my Sundberg tenor guitar in action.
The song...
Congrats! And I agree Shaun - that gives me a bad case of S-MAS!
That banjo player sure looks a lot like Noam Pikelny...
Great news? No, AWESOME news!!!
Well... that's my dream line-up of teachers too (the only one missing is Thile).
Let's see, is California far from Sweden? Hm...
Really cool! Love it!
I notice that you have a Collings MT... I used to have one too, but now own a Kimble A5. You can read some of my reflections about the difference between these instruments here.
Have not played an...
So... you just put on a recording of Compton/Long and pretend to play - that's what you did, huh?
Just kidding, great playing, both of you! That Ellis surely sounds great.
Please do!
Hm... I think I've seen this one before ;)
Beautiful instrument, for sure!
Welcome to the Mandolincafé Anders! Glad to see more Swedes here.
My vote is for a tenor guitar (guess an octave mandolin or a tenor banjo would do the trick too):
1. Has given me a better stretch and stronger pinky.
2. Has helped me to understand the map of...
It's a Nugget.
Well, what so say? Pure beauty. Even the top is just striking. Congrats!
Fingers crossed here too...
May I suggest Andrew Mowry, Paul Lestock (of Arrow instruments), or Joel Eckhaus (of Earnest instruments). As far as I know they have all built archtop tenor guitars... all top notch builders too.
...then here's your chance, check out this clip from a Dave Rawlings Machine concert. He enters at about 1:20 and there's some cool interplay with Dave at the end.

Hey, I posted about these video clips here on the Café a week ago... seems like nobody noticed. ;)
Follow this link if you want all four of them embedded.
Just found this on YouTube. Akira Otsuka tells stories about John Duffey and his mandolins...
