Thanks Ed... I'm sick over it. But I can't justify having such a stellar instrument that I'm not bonding with. I'll stick to playing mandolin. Some Octave lover will be blessed with this one.

Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes Trevor!
I agree with all of your points. And I was skeptical too, for the same reasons.... Never giving a chance, or taking a liking to Jazz bodied guitars. I had a chance to...
The guitar shape or GOM was the biggest draw for me, and exactly why I chased this down. The fact that Fletch makes one that is world class and sounds/plays great just sealed it. Although any great...
Thanks guys. I've been playing guitar, mando, bass, banjo, for over 40 years... and each instrument I picked up, i fell in love instantly... I've been playing mando 90% now for the past few years.....
I will... once I spend a little time and learn how to play it. Honestly, I almost send it back after it arrived as none of my mando skills transferred. I've never played a Octave before... And...
A few more... sorry!

This Octave Mandolin was 2 years in the making. The picking and choosing of woods, hardware, finish, etc was bitter-sweet. Bitter in the anticipation, and sweet in the anticipation.... God Bless the...
Glad you made it to Austin! I agree and can't say enough about Tom. We started out as Builder-Client.. and I now consider Tom a close friend. And I had the same feeling playing that Loar... I much...

Agree and Agree! I have the Waverly tuners and they are clearly better and at a higher level of quality than what else I've seen. I too am thinking of what bank I have to knock over so I can get one...
I try not to get caught up in unrealistic views... as we all do with things we bought, spent lot's of money on, etc.
I must say, I'm in love with this thing. It has developed nicely and sounds...
Does this hold true for the saddle as well? I would think the saddle would fall victim to this much more than the nut... being saddle is much softer than the nut.
Guitars apparently don't suffer these tuning inconsistencies, at least flat top guitars don't. I can't speak for arch tops as I've never owned one. I wonder if fiddles/violins suffer the same as...
Thanks for all the responses. Although I don't feel any closer to Klarheit, I do feel much better that I'm not the only one scratching his head about this!
Being a guitar player for a few decades, I'm used to strings going flat out of tune after playing, especially after a particularly brutal session. I'm not an advocate of "stretching out" new strings,...
Congrats Austin! That was mine for a year... I HATED to get rid of it. It was the best sounding/playing Collings (and ALL Collings I've played were stellar) I've come across. It's 6 years old and...
What custom work? FYI... I found out about it's existence about a month before I took delivery on it.
I see... thanks. I now know why the other members recommended swapping out the tuners. I had grandiose ideas of machining my own buttons that closely matched the beautiful paua abalone inlay at the...
I appreciate the suggestions, but I'm not looking to go through purchasing a new set of Waverly tuners, swapping them out, then selling and losing some money.... although I'm sure they'll get a fair...
There's no problem, I'm just contemplating replacement for another button I find more aesthetically pleasing.
How please, do you replace A Style Waverly tuner buttons? On my F, the Waverly buttons have a screw holding it to the shaft, so that is obvious how to remove and install... but A style waverly...
I must apologize.. there was a msg on my voice mail from them that I didn't get earlier in the day.. before this post! Very embarrassing.. apologies to the tone-rite folk!
Thanks everyone.. I'll try some of the suggestions. Wouldn't draping a towel over it dampen the vibrations, hence defeating it's own purpose?
