Looks like there'll be a few of us at the Massry Center. I just got tix. Row N. The price of procrastinating! ...though I don't think there is a bad seat there.
Count me in. I'm curious.
Well I for one was impressed. Met a lot of great people. The teaching talent was outstanding, very approachable and very encouraging. My brain got a workout it hasn’t experienced since college! ...
Hi Amanda,
I'm looking forward to it as well. Coming over from Troy, NY, an easy 2 hour drive.

On the Android I use a program called, gStrings for tuning and a program called Basichords which has a terrific layout for finding chords and all inversions.
Zoom H2 has fewer bells and whistles than the H4n but should be plenty enough of a recorder for tunes at sessions - and quite a bit cheaper. Check out B&H Photo at $108. Great deal.

This instrument doesn't seem to be the quality of their...
A co-worker is looking to learn to play the mando. She came in with a mandolin I believe to be Spanish in origin. Her father had it in the closet. It appears to be a fine instrument to start on. ...

Generally speaking what is the difference in sound between the x brace and the tone bar in two otherwise similar instruments?
I'd like to hear some opinions. At best I am an intermediate player and probably won't ever be much more than that. I play for relaxation. I like, old timey and I am working on somes blues and jazz....
I have a Rigel with those sleek rounded sides. Can anyone comment on whether a tone guard would fit on one of them?
GhostRider,
The question isn't whether we like but rather do you like it? What was the purpose of the photo? To give the viewer information about the instrument? If so, the second picture is better...
