  3. Re: And now for something completely different...

I've seen several comments about it abrading the back of your mandolin while playing. To be clear, the whole thing is made of painted basswood, even the frets. I'm pretty sure the back of almost any...

Ha! I thought this would get some comments here!
I made it as a lark, but liked it so decided to test the waters for potential sales. It's all wood but on a cloth backing. It's jointed at several...

    Handcrafted PeeWee tenor resonator

Hello all. I just finished converting a Yamaha Jr. 3/4 size six string guitar into a tenor resonator and am pretty happy with the results.
The PeeWee Peach Orchard Owl is equipped with a National...

    Tremolo straps

    194536

I’ve purchased straps for several of my instruments from Tremolo Leather Company’s ETSY site. She’s got a bunch of different styles, some made from vintage ribbon she finds and some that...
  8. Re: Family heirloom- help me identify this mandolin

I wonder why the G string is up over the tailpiece. Is the tailpiece hinge so loose that the g string is holding it closed?
    Very pretty instrument though!

Re: Conversion from cheap 6 string

Good for you! That's awesome! I'd absolutely love to have something like that, but I can't justify spending much. That's why I'm looking forward to the Recording King's arrival. I really wish I'd...

Re: Conversion from cheap 6 string

I did the same thing with a cheap 3/4 size Yamaha recently and am very happy with it. However, it just whet my appetite for a "real" tenor guitar....

No. He was quite clear that he thought $25,000 was what it's worth
  14. Re: $25,000 Gibson on FaceBook Marketplace

It looks like it was removed from Facebook Marketplace. Either he got his $25,000 and is rolling giddily around in the cash, or others told him the same thing.

For those who are interested, it was...
  15. Re: $25,000 Gibson on FaceBook Marketplace

I messaged him very politely explaining what he had and what they typically sell for. I told him what I had paid recently for my teens A-1's ($675 and $550). I even gave him the link to Mandolin Cafe...

  17. Re: Cheap & Cheerfull Tenor Conversion question

I converted a cheap yamaha jr2 to a tenor simply by thinning the neck down with the fretboard still in place. The thread is fairly recent and down the page a bit

    Re: Should I be insulted?

My Jack Russell Terrier is not a fan of my playing. He gets up and leaves. The Boxer and Bulldog don't seem to mind so much. Perhaps they can't hear as well.

    Yamaha jr2 to tenor conversion

After stupidly selling my Blueridge BT-40 a few years ago due to scale length issues, I realized I'd like to give tenor guitar another try. I didn't want to spend much $ in case I decided again that...

Re: On holidays. Forgot my pick!

Same thing happened to me last week. I used a credit card, and even found that I could hold it as well as a pick, if not even more stably. Didn't sound as good, but it was better than nothing.

    Re: "Dark" Fiddle Tunes?

I've always thought Jerusalem Ridge was a dark sounding tune. The soundtrack to Ken Burns' Lewis and Clark documentary is also full of great dark sounding tunes
