I've got a homemade (not by me) 23" scale electric tenor, currently strung as an octave mandolin, which I'm really enjoying. I've also been playing around with CGCG tuning, which seems (at least...
What's the scale length on these? It'd be great to see/hear some videos.
Gorgeous album, I love the Jerry-esque soloing, and the sax, and pretty much everything about it. Keep up the great work!
Huge Bob fan, seen him upwards of 15 times. Mando slips into his work in unexpected places; Together Through Life especially.
No other trumpet players here? i play trumpet in my school Jazz band, it's uphill but well worth it! I picked up mandolin so I could have a mouthfree instrument to play, and because it is hard to...
Gorgeous! As a mandolin enthusiast, and as a Jew with interest in the pre-war Ger community, especially that of the Hasids of Ger, this is like heaven!
I played a Godin with a Fishman amp (I think it was the Loudbox) at the Music Emporium in Lexington, MA, and thought it sounded great.
I know next to nothing about mandocellos, but I know that that sounds gorgeous!
I have an Eastwood Mandocaster, currently tuned as a mandolin. Would it be possible to tune it as a mandola, or would that damage the neck? Preemptive thanks...
Wolfgang's Vault just released this great show with many of the Byrds participating, and with Chris Hillman on mandolin:...
Nice! What is the mando-like instrument he switches to mid-song?
According to Expecting Rain, Don's been with the band since March 7, 2005. He's played at the last dozen Bob shows I was at (going back to around '05), so that seems right. Really integral addition...
Anybody else catch Bob Dylan at the Grammys? Donnie Herron, multi-instrumentalist with Bob's current touring band, can be seen playing electric mando with His Bobness.
Here's the link, starting at...
Hello all! I just purchased an Eastwood Mandocaster, and am having fun with it already. However, I'm pretty much a beginner even on acoustic mando, and a total newcomer to electric instruments, amps,...
I just picked up both DVDs from Homespun- they were on sale, not sure if they still are. I'm having fun, though I haven't gotten so far into them yet. His teaching and performances on the DVD are...
Thanks, now I know if I get it, not to get it from them... I just chose that link 'cause it had a good description. My real question is on what the kit is like to set up, etc.
Anybody have experience with these?

They are going for around $120 around the web, and as a total beginner interested in an...
I'm a total beginner, so I'm probably not qualified to judge it, but I have an Ibanez 510 and have been learning to play without too much of a problem. The tailpiece occasionally causes string buzz...
