Been looking at the same ad. This may or may not be the same one relisted frequently over the last year or so but the price is about the same. Consider though that there is often quite a difference...
This is great. I've never seen it before but it's likely a repost.
He discusses and displays THE very Greek Bouzouke which he introduced to Irish music back in the late '60s with Sweeney's Men.

That IS beautiful!! I want!!
Perhaps "cale" was a typo.
Post #28 here http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?78445-Zeroth-fret-or-nut/page2 by Paul Hostetter refers to the spacer nut in a zero/zeroth-fret (zeroth,...
My apologies. Your location says "Outer Spiral Arm, of Galaxy" and I don't know what time it is there. By my second post, it was noon here and 105 views.
Also, sorry about the spelling mistakes. I...
Hahahah, what a waste of time!! I thought it looked quite nice in the pics, but as soon as it was passed to me I could see the neck joint was failing. What looked like binding, is painted on (though...
Wow, nobody has any idea what make/model this might be?
Heading out now to look at it. Wish me luck!
:)
Owner calls it a flat-back mandolin.
It's round-hole, flat-back mandolin with a zero-fret and cale. It has an extended fretboard finger over the round hole which ends at a point and the head...
Don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but since someone took kitty litter seriously, you could also try a paste made of cornstarch and water.
It is a technique I learned in autobodt class years...
Nice project. There are other repairs/pics online dealing with missing wood like you seem to have on the top.
Now where is that pesky subscribe button? (found it, subscribed)
If you were to search your neighbors' firewood pile (I've seen it done here) what are the minimum dimensions one should seek? (diameter and length)

That's great. Just pulled it up but I expect good things.
I'm amazed by the quality of live recording nowadys, such as the outdoor impromptu stuff like on their website. Sounds album worthy to me....
I checked out the link above for Reeb Willms and Caleb Klauder, and though I can appreciate what you done, it just doesn't speak to me. I did prefer the 2007 Dangerous Me and Poisonous Yous samples...
I heard of Foghorn Stringband more than a year ago and understand they have a rotating lineup (or do they? Besides Foghorn Trio & etc.).
Can anyone suggest a quintessential album to start with?...
Coming from someone who is not the slightest bit religious or spiritual, I just think the guy is just simply nuts!
Whether or not it is called backlash, it is a matter of lash. The lash I guess is a measure of the tollerances between the worm drive of the tuning knob shaft and the gear of the post. Some tuners...
This is the way I learned. Also that only a bit of slack (pulling lightly up on the string with index finger on 1st fret) is necessary before bringing up to pitch. However I kept breaking E strings...
My epiphone was much like that or worse around the frets when I bought it for $40.00. The rest of it was hazy and cruddy.
My girlfriend got me two new books for Christmas. "The Mandolin Project" which I didn't expect and never heard of, and "A Splintered History of Wood" which I asked for and wanted to read for some...
I'm visiting Antigonish, Nova Scotia (I'm from Halifax) this weekend and while my GF is at work, I visited The Music Fix just up the street and he had a KM-505 on the wall, new $595. Saga's list is...
Thanks Allen, I did see reference to SM-6S two-pointer which seems to be solid top. so like other brands, you might be right about the suffix "S".
I couldn't figure out who they were made by, so...
Nobody knows if these are any good?
As the title says, the mandolin in question os an oval hole Sigma SM3. Seller says it's a Korean built mandolin from the 1970s.
I saw only one other reference here to Sigma (a two pointer) and...
This just caught me as an odd statement. Do you actually like mandolin music, or just the mandolins? Do you only like F-style mandolin music? I can't tell the difference myself.
I'd be willing to...
