I experienced lack of volume and intonation problems with the XT's, tried multiple sets and always the same so I moved on to using GHS Pure Nickel and their Silk and Bronze sets now.
Yes, looking forward to the new Rubner's, can't wait.
Congrats on your Northfield, I love mine.
It seems this is common, after some heavy playing, the strings just loose volume and tone and die. I had put another set on and did a couple practice sessions and during the gig, they just seem to...
I guess it was roughly about 3 weeks for me too, one set was subject to some very rough humidity outside gigs and were really abused so maybe I shouldn't be so hard on them saying I wanted more.
Anyone else tried the new XT and can report back?
I've had about three sets on the mandolin now and initially, very good tone and volume but they do seem to die to quickly as volume just goes away...
I plan to use Rubner tuners when they become available for my F style.....sure hope that's soon.
Yeah, those paper tags are a pain, I can understand why they thought that would be a good way to identify and possibly save money but still. I do see their thought about identifying cause I'm sure...

Visit both and Cotten's too, take the time and enjoy!
I use a Grace Design Bix at Church for guitar but I personally own a ToneDexter and use it all the time on mandolin with the group and prefer to use it on guitar at Church when I can. The Bix does...
Thank You Mandolin Cafe Admin, and Emory for posting here and sharing.
A good friend sent this video to me today and I am hooked on this tune.

Praying for you sir.
Glad I'm not the only one....I would like a custom medium set option, with the 11.5,16,26,40 and for the plain strings to be exp coated as well.
Just as it's stated.....
I've had several BlueChips as well as other picks and once I tried the CT55, there was tone and volume there that wasn't there before. I do believe the bevel is different...
There is something special with the CT55.
I've been using a ToneDexter for awhile now and have always been impressed. Very nice unit and proud user for both mandolin and guitar.
It's easy to use and the sound I get has received many...
