    Re: THe Mandolin Pickers guide

I had the same problem....then I realized that the files on the "cd" are actually Mp3 files.

They will not work on a cd player....you have to play them through a computer.

    I imported mine into...
  2. Re: Looking for a woody sounding F mandolin under $700

Oops...just realized you were asking about F models. The prices I mentioned were for A-5s...and that's what i own. His F models go for more $$, but they are still very reasonably priced.
  3. Re: Looking for a woody sounding F mandolin under $700

Consider looking for a used mando by Howard Morris.

I have seen them on the Classifieds here for as low as $650-$700 and they are really nice mandolins.

I own one now, so perhaps I am a bit...

    Re: Eastman cracked finish?

I had a 2007 515 with a substantial amount of finish checking on the top.

Personally, I thought it looked kind of cool...but i have strange tastes.

As for the mandolin itself, I really liked...

  7. Re: Kratzer Bulldog (new) vs. '96 Flatiron f5 Artist

I've owned two Flatirons and one Bulldog. M.A.S. forced me to sell the Flatirons, but they were both very nice.

Financial disasters recently forced my hand and I had to sell the Bulldog and...

A few years back, I played a Summit mandolin that was hanging on the wall of Dusty Strings in Seattle. I a/b'd it with a handful of Collings, Rigels, (I think??) Webers and some other high end...

Re: Classifieds - no photo, no read for me.

An add with no photos doesn't bother me. Could be that the seller isn't highly motivated...if it sells, it sells...if not, then oh well.

If I'm interested enough, I will inquire for pictures. If...

Re: What is your reason for playing the mandolin?

To be honest...I don't always ENJOY playing the mandolin. Sometimes it seems that I'm in it for the challenge of learning new things as much as anything.

Don't get me wrong...I love the whole...

    Re: Kratzer F 5

Re: Trade F5-L for A5-L plus cash. Bad idea?

If you can play the A-5 in question first....and decide that it suits you...then go for it. I wouldn't trade away a known killer without knowing exactly what you are getting in return, though.
