First time on the Cafe in a while & you have put a smile on my face this morning, my friend!
Hope you are well.
I’m sold on the Straight Up Strings from Roger Siminoff on mandolin, guitar, & banjo! They are incredibly balanced across the courses.
Modacity is a nice app to log your practice.
Jim, they were peeled off immediately! I don't like plastic on an instrument (I'll change the truss rod cover) let alone stickers!! They actually did look pretty good! Definitely passable at five...
Well the inlays turned out to be stickers!!
While I am a bit perturbed by that, this mandolin is a monster & I got a super deal on it. So all-in-all, I'm tickled with it.
It's as unplayed as a...
Nope. That has the standard 70's style inlays.
But thanks!!
It should arrive tomorrow, so I'll post more on it.
Hey Skip. I was told a collector from the UK had it built this way from Gibson.?. I've never seen "custom" inlay work from the Gibson factory though. I'll have it in hand this week!!

Sorry I don't have more/better pictures.
They remind me of the Flying Eagle inlays of a banjo. I know they're not!
Flying Owl maybe?
Howdy y'all.
Has anyone ever seen these marker inlays?

Great stuff!
Hey everybody!
I just want to share a really well produced video of a country project I recently became involved with.
That's BRW #33 with a K&K through a Fishman ToneDeq
Hope ya'll enjoy it

Thanks so much, everyone!

Hey all,
I recently picked up the 1935 Gibson TG00 from the ads here. I had been looking for one for some time & had played quite a few, including some vintage Martins & a couple old Gibsons. None...
I've thought Tony myself.
The rest.?.
No real "issues" without the leather. I just really hate overtones!
I really dig the headstock on this. Without knowing who built it, I'm kinda glad there's not a few random letters or an illegible name on it!

I will post a short clip tomorrow, it really is a pretty killer mandolin!
I can see next week's cafe headline:
"T Swizzle's Long Lost #001 Swapped For Loar"
Hey everybody!
I bought this mandolin from the ol' eBay about three years back. The ad listing was so basic. I believe it was listed as "8-String Mandolin." The description was nearly as vague! I...
I hate to hear this. I acquired one of his D18s & what a guitar!! He & I emailed back & forth a few times after I got it, a really nice man & a fine luthier.

Love the classifieds here too! Im always sure to donate to the MC, if even a couple bucks, to keep it going. I always have after a sale, & have a few times after purchases.
I just moved from Cheyenne. They have a bluegrass jam at the library twice a month (2nd & 4th Saturdays, I think). It's a slow-jam mainly, but you'll meet some fine folks there.

I love the Peterson Stroboclip. I have used the "Sweetened" tunings before, but I use it on guitar as well so I keep it on standard chromatic.
I have a QuikLoc music stand that I picked up, new, from a pawn shop, & I really like it. Its sturdy, pretty adjustable, & the base folds up nicely to all go in a provided bag.
