Re: A song that moves you.

"What Could I be Doing" by Antsy McClain; "Clouds" by Zach Sobiek. Check 'em out, especially the Zach Sobiek story.

    Re: "Opening-up", Myth or Fact?

It's all a bunch of speculation overlain by a belief system. For the vast majority instruments are recreational, so if folks think their favorite little pal is getting better with age, good on them....

Re: Survival Mandolin Chords for Beginners

Thanks, very useful indeed! I prefer the first version, but both are there.

    Re: New Weber Yellowstone HT

Thanks all. I am really enjoying the Yellowstone. It was made in Montana. I don't know much about the merger thing but this one is a keeper.

    Radial ToneBone

My new Weber has a K & K pickup, which I played through a Radial ToneBone over the weekend at a gig. It's a very nice combination - there are two inputs, and a "piezo buster" option at the inputs. ...
  6. Re: Question about mando armrests...and toneguards...

Plus 1 vote for the McClung. Very comfortable and slightly angled. I started using one after apparently getting an allergy to the finish on a mandolin, kind of a weird deal but no problems after that...

    New Weber Yellowstone HT

Received a nice Weber Yellowstone HT with fern inlay - great service from The Mandolin Store and Weber who added the ebony pickguard and scooped Florida.

    Re: Whatdidya' get?

Weber Yellowstone/Fern and a SoundSeat chair. Have to wait a bit because the mando's going to Weber to have Florida scooped. The SoundSeat is an amazingly great pickin' chair!

    Re: Your Breedlove Masterclass Mandolin

I purchased an FF Masterclass about a month ago, and am very happy with it. It has a very clear, chimey type sound, very loud but less low end like the Bluegrassers seem to favor. I prefer playing...

    Re: Breedlove FF versatility

Maybe I can help with your question. My mandolin has been a Collings MF, and yesterday I took delivery of a Breedlove FF Masterclass (not sure how that differs from the American series besides the...

    Herd Animals

I was talking with an old friend the other day who I haven't seen for about 20 years or so. He said he had acquired a second Spanish Mustang horse - he wanted another because the are "herd animals."...

Re: Chris Hillman at the Library of Congress

I'm a big Chris Hillman fan. I purchased one of his Martin OM signature guitar a few years ago and sent him an email. He got right back to me with plenty of comments and a link to the artist who he...

    McClung Arm Rest

I have two mandos, one is a gloss top and the other a satin finish. I had the gloss top in for some work and set up that took a couple of weeks, so played the satin finish mando a lot during that...

Re: How to read mandolin tabs?

As a relative newbie to the mandolin, I think it's just as easy and maybe easier to learn standard notation. A good place to start is "Standard Notation for the Tab-Addicted Mandolinist" by Deborah...

    Re: So Here's the MAS

The MT honey finish came today, beautiful instrument with a superb set up. It has a whole different vibe than the MF, I'm not yet accomplished enough to sort out a meaningful sonic difference if...

    Re: So Here's the MAS

Well I was looking for something different, but it turns out just different appearances. I've just basically transformed a couple of guitars into mandos.

    So Here's the MAS

My first is a Collings MF, wonderful instrument. But I'd like another to go with it, as I haven't settled into what kind of music I want to play. I already know the "try before you buy" suggestion,...

First Post, tips for getting underway

I'm a fairly newbie to the mando, but played a lot of violin in my youth, and was a pro guitar player before my real life got under way - I was a finger picker but re-entered the guitar world...
