Too bad the BC's are available locally. Trying out different ones could get real expensive. I've got a TAD50, I'm curious about the CT, but don't know that I'm that curious.

I don't see a good description of the CT pick on the site. What's the difference between that and the TAD?
There are quite a few versions of the Bluechip pick. Is there a preferred shape among mandolin players? SR? TAD? CT? another?
I use a Schertler DYN-M with a Fishman preamp (DI). Its an external "stick on" mic with great sound, and little feedback, unless it's pointed directly at monitors. The sound is a very natural...
I've got a '99 Absaroka. Great tone, awesome playability. I had Big Joe put a cumberland bridge on it. Between his setup and the bridge, it's a great sounding mandolin.
It's just the one fret. Everything up and down the neck sounds as it should. It's a kit mandolin, with a rather decent sound, and sure could stand a setup (action) and that fret issue (which...
Nope - it's gone. He traded it to someone who wants to play it. I told the new owner if they ever wanted to sell to let me know.
The video is great. Thanks.
Is there a quick fix for a high fret on the e string? (Caveat - I'm not a luthier, or repairman and only have access to basic household tools). I picked up an inexpensive mandolin that may have...
That Ratcliff does look pretty interesting. Made from telegraph pole wood... hmm.
I once played an awesome sounding bright RED Michael Kelly mandolin. It had that great woody sound, but I couldn't get past the RED, so it stayed at the store. I congratulate you on your courageous...

Probably not. Even though I do plug in when I play (Schertler DYN-M with a carpenter jack), I don't know that the National tone would do it for me. Mostly the band wants a typical mandolin tone...
I had my eyes on an A5 that slipped away from me (1970's Unicorn at Gruhn). My gut reaction was to find something else to take the wish away, (isn't this how MAS starts)? I started poking through...
+1 to this. I use a plastic bread wrapper clip too. Works great.
What terrible, sad news! And what a loss for the music community. I only knew him here through the cafe, but I've got many of his youtube videos bookmarked... and was even inspired to transcribe...
Do you have a picture of the end result?
This is an interesting thread, and I can see both sides. One part of me says that singer-songwriters who have not had some claim to fame might be happy to have their tunes being played publicly, by...
Use to be, until I realized none of the gigs I was getting were union gigs....
Couch-
Is there such a thing as the "ultimate mandolin"?
I just have them send me a check c/o the local police department. Strangely enough, I've never gotten paid.
1 - I personally think ads should not read 'OBO'. That term brings out the strangeness in people. Just ask what you want and if a person wants to make an offer, they will.
2 - I've found that...

Be sure to watch it all the way through. <<
LOL. That is funny. I wonder if anyone ever told them what they did?
How's the sound? And was distressing the only thing done, or was it also setup?
I've used a Schertler Dyn-M with my Fishman Loudbox 100. Great, natural sound, only louder.
