I heard Paul is no longer building.
Don & son are turning out some fantastic instruments these days. Here's Pomeroy #215, a hybrid oval spec'd out with Paine Sr.'s wise counsel... complete with Epiphone Masterbilt-inspired headstock....
That's it - a perfect match but for the resonator. Thanks!!
Just wondering if anyone can offer a hint as to vintage and maker of the depicted banjolin. I suspect 1920s-ish, and possibly a Slingerland. Note the unusual diamond fretboard and peghead inlay......
Why Paul's mandolins don't sell for at least twice as much is a complete mystery. My A200 SA still tops anything else I've played. Only gripe: the plastic truss rod cover. Other than that, fit,...
Excellent! I'd love to see how these compare to standard Martins and Dawgs.
Please enter me. Thanks!
Assuming the quality and tone of Paul Schneider's F-style Summits is on par with his A's, I'd definitely check them out.
I actually owned that Stiver for a while, and (stupidly) sold it back to Miklas. Definitely the best A I've heard "in person," regardless of price. Later purchased a Summit A-200 SA with a ton of...
The whole thing is top-notch. Jesse is in remarkably strong voice, and the tunes seem to fit him like a glove... but what struck me most was his mandolin picking. Rather than retrofitting the music...
Problem solved - just picked up an Access "Level 3" mandolin case. I can't speak highly enough of this thing (no affiliation, BTW) - inexpensive, deep enough not to pressure the bridge, relatively...
At present, I need cases for a Summit A, Pomeroy F4, and - possibly - Weber Yellowstone. All fairly standard in shape/size... so I'm hoping "aftermarket" cases will do the trick.
Hey All -
I've reached a point where mandolin storge is becoming an issue (small house w/ "assertive" 3-year-old), and need some general advice on cases. I'm looking for something reasonable...
Yup - That was his Dearstone. Ray's still doing good work - I'm one of his "A" customers (the vast majority of his built-to-orders are F's), and can certainly vouch for the tone of his redwood tops.
Thought I'd toss a quick note out to anyone else considering a Goldengate case for a "larger" A-model: try one in person first! The craftsmanship is fine, BUT I had a tough time squeezing in my...
Thanks all for the feedback. I ended up cutting a rectangular slice of lining from the imprint area, and testing for contact by laying tape sticky-side up on the bridge. That seems to have done the...
I just picked up a cool old '89 Stiver A, which came with a newish TKL hard case. The case seems a bit too small - its lid, before buckling, stays open approx. 3/16 inch. Does a gap of this size...
I just recently "inherited" the Gibson in this photo, and hope someone can help peg the age and model name. The only identifying number, stamped inside (beneath bottom scroll), appears to be 2730 25....
OK - Setup complete. Now the poor guy plays like a dream, but seems to have lost some of its rich tone & a little volume. Looking down the strings from the nut end, it also appears that the bridge...
Greetings All -
As a newcomer to this wonderful instrument, I was recently inspired to invest in a new Mid Mo (M3) and a 2001 Breedlove Cascade for the purpose of practicing on mandos with...
