Louvin Bros. "I Can't Keep You in Love with Me"
I just finished reading the book "Satan is Real" and was Googling up some LB...
On behalf of all the other donkeys out there, which band is LRB?
Here's another band that used a tenor, the Mills Brothers!
Note to self:
Time to wipe down the scanner.
I buy the big triangle .94 Clayton picks, trim them with scissors and shape them with emery boards. Each one turns out a little different, like a custom pick. Did I mention that they are cheap, too?...
I remember at Galax one evening happening upon Bobby Hicks and another fiddler that I didn't recognize just standing there playing some beautiful fiddle music. Every now and then they would add a...
Thanks pickloser!
I got my first green ribbon for competing in the Old Time Fiddle category. I heard a lot of music on stage and in the camp sites and there were some famous fiddlers there, too.
Jeff is a monster, yet he uses his powers for the benefit of Mankind.
My lowly Eastman 505 keeps getting better!
I'm in Clemmons. If I hear of any I'll post it here.
Welcome to the Old North State!
The official toast of NC:
"Here's to the land of the long leaf pine,
The summer land where the sun doth shine,
Where the weak grow strong and the strong grow...
I had the opportunity to try one of these F-5 style Flatirons out today. I was impressed with the tone and playability. The finish is exactly what you expect. Thick looking compared to an Eastman.

I trust that you've experience with these types of adjustments? If so, give a Gibson truss rod tool a try.

KanMando, I was able to do the same thing last year; spend a couple hours picking out a new Eastman at Gianna's. I picked a nice one and it hasn't disappointed me.
That 815 is a beaut! I'll bet it...
Gary S, where U at? Camel City here. The frequent letters that Wishnevsky sends in to the Winston-Salem Journal are the best reason to read that newspaper.
The thing about Eastmans is that one can avail oneself of the opportunity to find a room full of them and pick out the best one of the bunch which is what I did. I paid stupid money for a very nice...
Gadzooks, a fern F-4! I'll bet it would cost what, eight or nine hundred bucks at least! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
It's a dream AeroJoe. You're going to wake up in a minute and this will all seem soooo real.
This thread refers to Sparta, North Carolina.
One of my favorite trout streams runs through Sparta.
That photo has me looking around for stuff to sell! Thats a long neck, right?
Yes, but in this thread the OP wants to spend $400-700. The Eastman 500 series is right in that slot.
But I'm sure your Old Wave can beat up my Eastman....
You can get a 500 series Eastman new for around $500 bucks and have an instrument that is as good as other instruments costing three or four times that price.
Good luck!
Don, welcome to the Mandolin Cafe, and thanks for pitching in on this thread. I have a nice Eastman 505 at home.
Sstiner seems to be happy with his, too!
Now, let me hit the numbers tonight and...
