Completely white walls?!? That is pretty sweet, zen calm even... I am too cluttered everywhere else to pull that off!

Re: Advice for playing with a twin brother....

get him some crossover stuff, like Tim O'brien and make him listen. The new album with Darrel Scott would be a good place to start, but his album "the crossing" has a very irish feel.

Re: Pretty and designer mandolin stands?

I know you are "loathe to drill a hole" but I have found my hercules wall hangers to be my solution to that particular problem. The ones I got have a wood base. Though they do look funny when empty,...

It has taken me some time but now I really wish I had known of this option! String changes with the collings tailpieces are not as smooth as I wished...

    Re: Neck Width

I had an A9 I had to sell because the non-radiused 1' fretboard was way to small for my hands. YMMV.

Breedlove have a wider neck as I hear (though i haven't played one).

    I have custom ordered...
  14. Re: Internally mounted pickup and quality of sound when amplified

    Ahhh, Thx!

I have had an ovation and... well, I traded it in on a Gibson A9. My buddy had a crafter that I liked a bit more, but it still wasn't for me.

That is exactly what I am...
  15. Re: Internally mounted pickup and quality of sound when amplified

I really don't look at the prices for Eastman mandolins often, but this came up in my searches for Resocoil...

  16. Re: Internally mounted pickup and quality of sound when amplified

I think on some level I am trying to decide if I dedicate my Bighorn to be my gigging axe. I bought a collings MT that I was gigging with for a while, but I just couldn't get the same feel out of...
  17. Re: Internally mounted pickup and quality of sound when amplified

I often just plug straight into the soundboard, but I have a Schertler Unico that is quite an amazing acoustic amp.
  18. Internally mounted pickup and quality of sound when amplified...

I have a Schertler Dyn-M that I use on my Weber Bighorn and I absolutely love the sound I can get when amplified. The whole attachment with putty is a hassle, and not being able to unplug the chord...

And you have inspired another generation of mandolin players to scrape the finish off of their mandolin... Way to stick with tradition!

I say for you, the Opportunity cost of obtaining a given mandolin outweighs the value gained from said instrument.
