Re: Breedlove, Tenor, Revival OM M

JC has asked me to comment on my OM. The first thing always brought up is the scale. This makes it perfect for playing in GDAE tuning. I believe if you play guitar it would seem natural if not a...
  2. Re: Inexpensive mandolin for a piano player who'd like to "dabble

Morris mandolins are a very nice quality instrument. Inexpensive because Sonny doesn't
add all the bling. Still beautiful in a minimalist way. Custom built in an American one
    man shop. You can find...

    Re: New Hwy 49 day

No not Elderly. It was a private sale. I prefer the old and used look but I don't
think I will ever play with the finish.
  4. Re: My Herb Taylor tenor guitar build in progress!

Been a long time since I've heard you play Tenor.
Can't wait to hear you on this beautiful guitar.

    Re: New Hwy 49 day

Looks like your having fun Cornfield. I wanted one of these for awhile. And, when I got around to
getting one they stopped making them for a few years. When they started to produce them again
    I was...

Re: Kala, Blueridge, GDAE, and other questions...

What a great option being able to try both guitars. Lots of fun there. You'll probably end up
    with both tuned differently.
This was probably mentioned before but you will need to change the strings...

Re: A few new Mowry octaves.

Yes. That's the word for the quality of Andrew's instruments. Perfect.
My F5 is a pleasure to play and a joy to look at every time I pick it up.

    Re: 2003. Breedlove Rogue

A couple of the best sounding mandolins I've heard
    were Breedloves from that era.
Very loud with beautiful bell tones.
What a great find and what a great first [and lifetime]
    instrument to start...

    Re: Reischman superb tone.

I've had the pleasure of being around John quite often.
In an acoustic situation the Loar usually goes 'naked'.
The Tone Guard John uses has all of his electrical attached to it.
    Having been to...

Re: What are your favorite mandola makers?

I would contact Nikos Apollonio. You could get his base model with K and K pickup right at your
price point. And, being custom you can pick the scale, neck width, ect. He also has several
    upgrades...

Re: Getting into Jazz Tenor Guitar?

    Have you sent mine yet?
It would be nice to have a Section for GDAE.
Also, Jazz players use other tunings. It would
be interesting to have a short discussion of
what these are and why they may...

    Re: 25" Tenors

I play a 24" scale tuned GDAE. Obviously you can't play chop cords but there are a lot of two and three finger cords that
can be used. Some of those can be a stretch and at those times I may only...

    Re: Mandolin recommendations?

There's a Morris flat top in the classifieds in your price range right now.
If you contacted Sonny soon he could probably build a fully custom mandolin for
you by Christmas. Depending on his back...

    Hi Nic,
It's always good to see #12.
Your Soundcloud tag doesn't work for me though.
    So, I can't hear her.
It still works on the Mike Black Mandolin Social Group page,
but the tag is a little...
