Not interested in coated strings, so best wishes to all in the contest.
You may find the strings a bit too floppy for Octave tuning,it may work better with cgda tuning. I haven't reached a conclusion.
Wasn't there a Lara(?) somebody on the forum awhile back with a school mandolin donation charity? Seems like "Cool" was involved in the name?
I downloaded it successfully using Mozilla Firefox with Download Helper. Very few, if any, UTubs I can't download if I want them.
It is a great show, and I'm one who prefers mando to sound like...
I made a point to watch the Austin City Limits episode with Mumford & Sons & Flogging Molly. I was unimpressed. Mumford & Sons came off as a one trick pony; same formula, different words. Flogging...
Until recently, Breedlove mandos came in 3 price/appointment levels; Quartz at the low end, Premier at mid-level, and Masterclass at the high end. A year or 2 ago, the line shraink to American and...

All Right!!!
I've not had opportunity to try a Master class or the new American series Breed, but I'm convinced there's a definite difference in the old Quartz and Premier series' mandos, based on the 2 I've...
Definitely has the family resemblance to the Strad's I've seen, or seen pix of.
For what it's worth, on my prior and current Gibson A2's, I've mostly stuck with GHS PF270's. Nothing against D'Addario's in general; I have the FW74's on my Breedlove Cascade.

I just got this, but I doubt I'll get much use out of it, due to it's non notation, non tablature strange format.

Well, what I posted before was what came up; it works now, sorry.
I did very much appreciate the FW74's, & bought more after. I just had a very bad set of FT74's.
Some of us think they're great. I had a Quartz KO for a while, loved it, then sold it to upgrade to a Premier Cascade for the F holes.
The necks are one of the best features, a bit wide & radiused,...
Looks like a Wegen
All gone:
Open strings, crosspicking, arpeggios....
They start life as bronze roundwounds & are ground to flat tops. Some people like them, others find them not good as bronze or as flats. The ones I tried sounded terrible, but I guess since the...
For the record, I said "...it can make crosspicking easier", not that I do it. I did some 20 plus years ago for crosspicking, but I rarely if ever plant for anything now. I buy food, rather than grow...
Looks nice; typical Lyon & Healy/Washburn appearance to my eye. Budget level, but looks like it may be in good shape.
That's what supplanted Grisman's "Acoustic Christmas" as my favorite Christmas recording years ago. It's hard to find though, the last I knew.
