Re: Wide Neck - Any Regrets?

I wonder if the comfort I feel has to do with how easily one finger tip can cover two courses of strings?
At some point, wider spacing will cause difficulty in this area.
    I have large hands and...

Re: One Piece vs Adjustable Mandolin Bridge

    Hello Bart,

The point of my asking the question is that as I admitted, MY ear can't hear the difference and I was wondering if BETTER ears than mine could. And I was wondering if there was any...

Re: How did everyone learn to play?

Wish I could say that I've learned to play after 4 years or so, but in all honesty .....
I finger-pick guitar well enough to teach, can handle a 5 string b***o and ukulele, but flat-pickin' pretty...

Re: One Piece vs Adjustable Mandolin Bridge

    Thanks to all who've replied.

I have some ebony slivers around and once I get this little sucker properly settled-in, I'll experiment with shims as Bryce suggests.

Wait 'til I ask about full...

One Piece vs Adjustable Mandolin Bridge

I have a Cumberland Acoustic bridge on my F Style. I ordered it with a full contact bottom and as close to the best height needed with the thumb-wheels fully closed. This simulated a one piece bridge...

    I don't see any problem

I aspire to a collection that exquisite.

Show this to your better half.

    Now show us your mandolins.

Re: NMD - my Saga build saga

That little kit was my first build, too. Look at my avatar.

With decent strings on it and a proper set-up (intonation), they are actually a sweet sounding instrument.

    The strings that come...
  9. Re: Capo is fine for banjo and guitar...why not mandolin?

Tiny neck, tight fret spacing, sausage fingers = big mess for this guy.

Do I have a mandolin capo? Yup, a Shubb.

Do I use it? Yup. Every time I change strings. Really helps.

    They way I judge...
  10. Re: Anyone trying the Gold Tone Zeroglide nut yet?

[QUOTE=PseudoCelt;1039561]If the Zeroglide's zero fret is shaped like a normal fret, wouldn't the point at which the strings make contact be slightly further from the first fret than the original nut...

    Re: Duff F5 broken headstock!!!

Just another thought - if the customer is a hard workin', hard travellin', hard ramblin' musician - maybe a hard case?
  12. Re: Our evening opening for Robin and Linda Williams

    That was really tight!

    Suggestion:

Ask Charlie Daniels there to be a little more animated if possible :)

    Loved it!

Re: Pick turning in my fingers.....

Lighter grip and watch the angle of attack.

With a clean Blue Chip, Red Bear, V Pick, Ultex, Fender Heavy etc., if the pick stays stationary, it will warm and "stick" to your thumb and finger.

    Welcome germano.

I must admit that it is very early in the day here in Canada, but I can't figure out what a TG is, unless you mean Tenor Guitar?

    Yeah?

Well he was smart enough to use a zero fret!

And them "internated" frets took a lot of scientific study!

There may be a reserve price though, this guy probably knows...

    Re: Tuning F Holes

    Ya know, Bear,

When I look at violins, violas and cellos - which can all produce a very wide range of balanced and loud sound, I think that the ff holes do what Dr. Dave describes and allow us to...
