Hi,
A friend of my son's has asked about this - I can see Hamburg 1850 something on one of the images, but that apart I know nothing! Anyone point me in the right direction? Is it worth anything?...
Regretfully, summer seems to have been officially cancelled in Scotland this year. :(
I use Elixirs on my Old Wave guitar bodied octave. The reason for this originally was that the strings supplied on it were prone to excessive, and I mean excessive squeaking. Perhaps it was a...
Lucky enough to have a front row seat at London's Hammersmith Odeon, guess it was back in the 80s. BB was a special guy, and like has been said before, the master of less is more.
I would love to see and hear it in action - looks gorgeous!
I personally love Elixirs on my GOM. They last for ages, keep the squeaks down and sound great.
Lovely tone you get out of your mandolin. Well played.
Happy Christmas from North East Scotland. Sunny, clear blue skis and ice cold here - ducks walking around on the frozen pond whilst we took the dogs out to work up an appetite!
Hope that's it fixed.
Favourite CBOMs? These two octaves mandolins, one an Old Wave and the other a Buchanan which sadly I no longer have. These were recorded a while ago, and I apologise if you have seen them before :)

I agree about setting up. A badly set up instrument could put you off for life, but a Savannah well set up will be a great place to start lifelong enjoyment of the mandolin.
Cannot think of a better place to start, or to improve.
First I have heard of it...shame, just got back from a great weekend down in Edinburgh and I can't justify a return mid-week. Must pay more attention in future!

And as a final note...I noticed TAMCO now has another F200 in stock, in case anyone is tempted. I'm loving mine!
In terms of sound, they were quite similar and equally excellent. Build quality, again, both top notch. The difference for me was the width of the neck, with the Krishot noticeably narrower. I'm sure...
Hi all
A few days ago I had the pleasure of spending some time at The Acoustic Music Company in Brighton. The objective was to buy myself a high quality F5 mandolin. I tried a Krishot F5, a...
As someone who plays mainly Celtic style, the best thing I ever did was chuck away pieces of paper with tab written out and learn tunes by ear instead. You play better and enjoy it so much more....
I actually LIKE changing my strings. Quality time spent with my mandolin is a good thing! You have to be in mood though, no point in rushing and making a hash of it. My experience improved after I...
Totally blown away. What a wonderful instrument you've created. Eek, now I want a cittern!

I recently visited one of the larger music shops in Edinburgh, which, no more than three or four years ago had a pretty decent array of mandolins. Not so any more and the reason is simple – on the...
I made one last year - and stuck to it. I decided to get rid of the bits of paper I used to read tunes from, and learn them instead. Having "plateaued" in terms of my playing for a few years, this...
Hi folks, Happy New year to you all.
Here's a little tune I wrote on my Old Wave octave.

In practical terms, it comes down to what is available, especially if like me, if you would want to play the instrument before you buy it. There may be a huge number of builders out there, but I for...
Great stuff - let's all have a look/listen to your new pride and joy over at the electrics section. I too have a four string, and the added advantage for someone who's come to mandolin from guitar is...
