    Ooo, pretty! Thanks, relayed. ^_^

    Bill:

The link is still good, I just open in another window and can see it fine. ^_^ Thanks!
  3. Re: So what's this poor thing, really? Dealer says "Avalon, 1890s

Wow, you guys are good. Thanks! Now I'm all excited! I hope she goes for it - I want to hear it played! ^_^

(And if anyone has more to add, please do! Now I'm quite curious myself...)
  4. So what's this poor thing, really? Dealer says "Avalon, 1890s"

So a friend of mine has sent me photos of a mandolin she found in an antique store and wants to know what it actually is, and whether it's salvageable as an instrument. The tag says "Avalon,...

    Re: Microphone for mandolins

To revive this thread, does anybody have any experience with the M-Audio Nova? I want a studio condenser mic but am on a very, very tight budget. Searching turns up a lot of reviews that are pretty...
  6. Re: How many playing hours between string changes?

I switched off D'addarios for similar reasons. I went to Martin 80/20 and (after testing other options) have stayed there, but you might try to the Martin SP phosphor bronze. The A and E are coated,...

    Re: question for MidMo owners

You might try the Martin SP phosphor bronze strings. I prefer the 80/20 non-SP in the Martins, but only by a little, and only on the high end. (I loathe the SP 80/20s. DO NOT WANT.)

Re: this IS a music store....?

You should've seen the adventures I went through getting new strings for my parnter Anna's ball-end Irish bouzouki. I ended up writing them up a page on the differences between Greek bouzouki, Greek...

    Pickup for Mid-Missouri M-11

Hi! I'm new. Ish, anyway. That's my Mid-Missouri M-11 in the avatar pic. I heart it! The other things are some of the flutes I've made for performing. I started playing almost a year ago and started...

    Re: Funny G string with D'Addario J75??

I am not very fond of the D'Addario strings; they sound okay, but I had inconsistent behaviour out of them. I use Martin 80/20s with better results. I don't like the Martin SP 80/20s; they are very...

Re: How often to replace strings?

I play hard and have atypical skin chemistry. I'm happy if I get two weeks out of Martin 80/20s; I get less from D'addario. Martin SP 80/20s last longer but I don't like the initial sound so I stick...
