1957 EM200 on Craig's List
"Only" $2500!

It does not include the original case (hence the reduced price).
Reduced? Hm. Yes, it's a '57, so it's worth more than one from the '60s. But given the overall condition of the vintage instrument market, $2500 would be a pretty healthy price even with a case.
Re: 1957 EM200 on Craig's List
Strangely, he links to a video of a fully original 1954 EM200.n Strange playing on that video -- tremolo on an electric sounds pretty bad IMHO -- but it is obviously not the same mandolin in the CL ad.
BTW that brass saddle makes the thing sound terrible IMHO. Makes my head ache and I thought I was getting tinnitus. I still have the original saddle but replaced the top with a std ebony one and mine sings quite nicely. Mine is from 1963 or 64 IIRC.
Re: 1957 EM200 on Craig's List
I don't think that video was made by a mandolin player...
Re: 1957 EM200 on Craig's List
Ya think? Too bad that one actually does look near pristine and I know that mine sounds quite nice through the right amp -- mostly my Vibrolux Reverb. It is a shame I don't quite play it enough.

Just you and me Martin on our own private thread!! :)
This just appeared in the classifieds: 1969 EM200
Oh, it is the same guy who has this rare one.
This was discussed recently, right?
Re: 1957 EM200 on Craig's List
Ya'll're doin' fine; just enjoying the read.
Re: 1957 EM200 on Craig's List
Yes, the pair of under-the-bed Gibson electrics in Colorado were discussed earlier. Nice to see them on the Classifieds. The F12E is tempting, and that's a very reasonable price, but unless it starts raining cash around here, I'll have to pass.
