I'm trying to find a Cuban Laud in the NYC area. I did a search online but came up with nothing. Does anyone know where I can get one?
Thanks in advance! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/...cons/smile.gif

I have a laud... it's not a great instrument...I bought is as a curiousity not as an instrument. I don't know if it's Cuban or not. I would certainly let it go cheap. I'm in Philadelphia, though, not NY. could send pics and more description.
If you're interested in exploring this possibility, PM me.
Otherwise... you might check out Lark In the Morning (online). Their own "brand" of instruments is generally low-end, but they have an astounding array of instruments from other places that are rare here, and some of them are instruments of some quality.
good luck,

Ph0eniX: I guess is difficult to get a true cuban laúd con orejas in the US, like those used by Barbarito Torres. It is easier to get a quality spanish tenor laúd (better those made around Valencia by Sanchis, Esteve, etc. with a slight longer scale length (48 cms), that will work in the same way. I do have two of them, and they are great instruments... If you don´t find a good enough laúd try a good puertorican cuatro, a bit longer but it works the same way.

Where can I get one of those?
I'll try to post pics next week... mine has a different shape than that...so might not be what you're looking for. It plays ok in the first position, but as you move up the neck, it has intonation problems. Could be fixed by someone with the skills to do so.
I'll send you a private message about cost, etc. No need to clutter up the board with that.
