I was given this, the top is good, the neck looks, the trim is coming off. Can't make out the name on inside, think it is worth fixing.

Looks like the zero fret is missing.
Probably made in Portugal... easy fix... Both fret wire and binding can be purchased from Stewart Macdonald.. If you need help just ask...
An inexpensive and easy fix.
My wife has a similar mandolin and it is a fun, decent sounding player.
i'd guess east german - "fun, decent sounding ..." is about right
I say Germany as well. At least the tailpiece is and I have seen those marked Marcelli but made in Germany.
