Sound like both those threads are mixed reviews, I would not say overwhelmingly either way. Besides, one is from 6 years ago and the other from 4. In addition -- correct me if I am wrong -- these are no longer being made, so certainly no warranty.
I guess it depends on the price and what the OP is looking for and if there are better choices.

Sorry... I did not read thru every part of that thread. It does go one and was revived and went off on a few tangents. The gist i got was that some liked them and some didn't and some thought they were good for the price and some didn't think so. Do you still have and play yours, Jeff?
Somebody asked the same question in the last two weeks.
Yeah I do. I have the blacktop D hole John Jorgenson. I call it my dumb blonde, because its such a beautiful instrument, and yet not my top performer. I love the feel, and since I had the florida taken down I can really play over the sweet spot. I keep it in ADAD tuning.
They are good mandolins. A little brassy in the tone, but many people even prefer that. For the price it is a very good mandolin.
And so cool looking.
Paris Swing Mandolins are about to be available again (not yet though). Anything being sold now would be the older versions.
This Jorgenson Model just showed up on eBay -- for those looking.
My son plays a natural-finish, D-hole. Has a really great "tubby" or "thuddy" sound. Tremolo is excellent on it. Plenty of volume too. Top is sunk in pretty bad but doesn't seem to affect it. It's his first mandolin (he's 11). I always liked them and have no regrets about getting it for him. Good to know they'll be back on the market.
I hope they do a better design and construction job on the new ones than they did on the originals....
I asked them about the D-hole version. That one will not be making a comeback. :)
