Glory O, Glory O, to the Bold Fenian Men - GgDdAADD on a Greek Zouk
And That's The Very Reason That I left Old Skibereen - Greek Zouk GgDdAADD
Masterful Eddie! You drew a tear to my eye! You are in your element here I think.
Great stuff there Eddie! The Munster Cloak has always been a favourite of mine. Well done to you sir!
Eddie, you do treat us to such a wonderful array of instruments! This one sounds very cool~ Are these tunes you already knew, or new ones for you? Does Siubhain Ní Dhuibhir have an English translation?
Siubhan Ni Dhuibhir is Joan or June or Susan O'Dwyer. In Donegal it's pronounced SHOON NEE GWIVVER, down South it's pronounced Shivon Nee Gweer. Clannad have it on one of their albums. I'd heard the tunes before but I just got the ABC's from TheSession.org and played them through, except for Skibereen and the Glory O to Bold Fenian Men - I played them by ear.
Eddie, have you ever heard Siún Ní Dhuibhir played by the group Mozaik? Donal Lunny sings it, and although Donal doesn't sing often, when he does it sure is special. I'm pretty sure he wrote in the song credits that it is one his mother sang to him when he was a boy. Warms the cockles of your heart!
Lovely playing there, Eddie. My favorites are "For Ireland I won't say her name" and "The Munster Cloak." A beautiful collection of tunes for sure.
