John Kelly did this one a couple of years ago with the White Cockade. My version is an arrangement for two mandolins and mandocello by Georgina Nettleton.
    Who were the Eight Men?
    1. The well known Seven Men of Moidart who accompanied Bonnie Prince Charlie from France and the prince himself.
    2. The Seven Men and a Mr Buchanan.
    3. Seven fishermen who danced an eightsome reel of welcome with a spade stuck in the sand.
    4. The rowers in the eight oared boat which, after the battle of Culloden, carried the prince and his party away from the same spot where he had landed.

    You choose!

Interesting arrangement, Maudlin. A much more sophisticated and "busier" arrangement than my own.

Here's the version I did back then to save folk having to look for it - assuming anyone wants to look and listen! The two versions offer very interesting contrasts in style and interpretation.
