I've been enjoying some of the fine performances in the long-running thread devoted to Carolan tunes, and had thought to make a contribution to it at some point. But Carolan (probably) didn't compose this tune, my favorite--today, at any rate--from the Irish harp repertoire. It's attributed to an older harper, Thomas Connellan from County Sligo. So I'll put it here instead. Bob Michel Near Philly
What a beautiful tune, exceptionally well played. I like the harp-like uke and you can never go wrong with a well played concertina. Good stuff.
Thanks, David; that's most kind. All credit to the tune, which I think is really outstanding. Connellan (or possibly his brother William) also wrote "Molly MacAlpin," which is better known as "Carolan's Dream." A tune like this almost makes me wish I'd taken up the harp. But the uke is cheaper and more portable! Bob Michel Near Philly
This is a lovely air, Bob, and your choice of instruments certainly does it justice. Well played!
