This is a waltz from Wales, known variously as "Ffarwel I'r Marian", "Ffarwel Marian", "Farewell Marian" or "Farewell to the Shore". Recorded as a mandolin quartet (two mandolins, tenor guitar and mandocello), using an arrangement by David M. Brown (posted here). I've added some photos of the Welsh coast. 1915 Luigi Embergher mandolin Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin Ozark tenor guitar Suzuki MC-815 mandocello Martin
Vert nicely played!
Very nice recording, Martin! For my little round-the-world-trip with uke and mando, I had been looking for a Welsh tune and finally settled on this waltz:
And another one for the to-do list! Nice playing, both of you. ESB and welshcakes, that brings back fond memories. I have a soft spot for Wales. Check out the folk group Calan, who play fantastic music. Unfortunately they gave up on mandolin after their first album.
