The Rose Hip (Ric Sanders)

This is a pretty fiddle tune written by Ric Sanders and originally from the 1989 Fairport Convention album "Red & Gold". I have learned this from the official Fairport Convention Songbook, Volume 1, edited by Maartin Allcock. It's "The Rosehip" in the songbook, but "The Rose Hip" on the album -- take your pick. The original Fairport recording is here.

I am playing this on a Washburn M-3SW, with backing on tenor guitar. Nothing fancy, it's a simple and beautiful tune which I'm playing pretty unadorned.

Interesting tune, Martin. Some unusual progressions there and your version really highlights the melody.

Thanks, John. Ric Sanders does like to go into unexpected directions -- he has a strong jazz background as befits an ex-member of Soft Machine. Fairport play the tune slightly slower than I, but I thought the transition to mandolin works better at this tempo.
