Well I checked and couldn't find Leather Britches in our list of tunes. It's an old fiddle tune played here on a Gibson F2 mandolin and backed up on guitar, Texas style! It is a real show piece on a fiddle and not too bad on a mandolin either. Here's an ABC of Leather Britches that I found. Astounding technique Michael- that was a real foot-tapper. Is there a distinctive Texas style of guitar backup?
Flurbly fingers' dance - there were more notes than actually fit on one fretboard at a time! The guitar accompaniment reminds me very much of what a bass normally does.
That's a tune I've got to learn. What a great style to showcase it.
Great swing to that, Michael - I could just imagine Bob Wills giving that one some real 'wellie' (as we say over here in the UK)! Lovely playing and a super arrangement. More of this please!
Lovely stuff Michael.
Holy moly! Just great!
Wonderful playing. I have to say, as a newbie to the mandolin, I really appreciate being able to hear tunes performed by more experienced players. I try pick out the tunes but many of the pieces I do not know. This has really helped me with 'Old Joe Clark' and 'Maple Sugar'. I am also looking forward to tackling ' Golden Eagle Hornpipe'. I will continue to check in regularly and maybe someday be far enough along my journey to contribute. Thanks again all!
Excellent picking and great accompaniment, Michael!
How awesome was that?!? I really enjoyed the Texas backup. Well Done!!
Beauty! f-d
Very nice. Lovely style and a lovely instrument too .
Michael, you da' man! I'm going to have to steal some or you licks and there's nothing you can do about it. That texas backup was pretty awesome, also!
Very easy on the ears, Michael. Thanks for sharing.
