This is a fun one to play with lots of room to goof around (and make mistakes!). As Barbara has pointed out I don't have much of a poker face which makes some of these videos even more entertaining! If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at??
Sean, nothing wrong with this, it's a great rag and you're meant to have fun!!!! Loved it.......
Those bent notes are cool. Really great job.
I love this Rag, Shaun. Great job.
Cool tune. Sounds great on the resonator.
Cool tune Shaun. When is the next poker game?
Shaun, that was great fun! You sure have a rock solid right hand there!
I'm going to try to learn this. Not sure if this is the same notation that Shaun played, but I found this online, From John Chambers abc collection: X: 1 T: Pig Ankle Rag M: 4/4 L: 1/8 K: D af \ | "A7"gecA- A2af | gecA- AABA \ | "D"dABA dABA | dBAF- F2af \ | "A7"gecA- A2af | gecA- AABA | | "D"dABA dABA | dBAd- dBdA \ | "G"B4 d3e | "D"fa2a bafd \ | "A7"Acea fdec |1 "D"d2 a3^g :|2 "D"d6 |] |: cB \ | "A7"ABcA BcAB | cABc- cBAF \ | "D"D2dA BdAB | dABd- dBAF \ | "A7"ABcA BcAB | cABc- cBAF | | "D"D2dA BdAB | dABd- dBdA \ | "G"B4 d3e | "D"fa2a bafd \ | "A7"Acea fdec |1 "D"d2 [f4d4] :|2 "D"d6 |]
Wow Sean! I think I saw lightening coming out of your axe at 47 seconds! Impressive!
Thanks for all the kinds words. These kind of tunes just fit the resonator. Lots of fun learning them too! As for the next poker game......I don't play for a reason! LOL When I'm in Vegas I'm a Blackjack fan!
Great picking Shaun. Barbara; there is an arrangement which is much nearer to what Shaun is playing at www.petecooper.com.
Here is the Pete Cooper version played on a Stagg.
Great tune by both you guys. Steve Parker's Ragtime for Fiddle and Mandolin also includes Pig Ankles Rag, a 5 part version composed by Mamie Williams. Just read in General Discussions forum that Mr. Parker recently passed away.
Here is a great instructional video by Don Julin. This addressed the opening notes, I was having trouble getting them right. I don't think any of the notation had it notated this way, but to my ear, it sure is how it should be.
