It has 9-32 on it and i know it should be a light gauge, is there a nylon string that would resemble gut for this vintage? Should i just get the 9-32? Thanks

It's hard to find Bobby Osborne out in public with his '24 Loar but I found this nice vintage video of Bobby and his Loar shortly after he got it so it's likely still got the Virzi in it. If you listen closely to his break and his chops (when he does them) you can hear this is a great sounding Loar.

Request Knowledge on repairing Supertone Tuners

I'm new to vintage mandolins and recently picked up a Supertone bowl back in very nice condition in the body and neck. Model number not written on tag inside body but has a star inlay in center of top of the headstock.

However, two of the tuning pegs slip a bit. The 2 pegs are slightly stripped where they join the brass gears and one of those brass gears has a crack through it. The tuning pegs are inlayed into the back of the headstock, which are then covered by a metal plate.

Can anybody direct me to an individual that could repair these tuning peg assemblys, or possibly anybody fabricating replacements?

Any help much appreciated

hi everybody, I'm new here.

My name is George, I am from Greece and I am a bouzouki and guitar player.

Do you have any ideas on the value of this Antonio Vinaccia mandolin in excellent condition (low action, straight neck no cracks, or other issues, with hard case? or how old it might be since there is no date on the label?

I'm not interested in selling since I'm playing them! Just for my information.
I found it in a basement and save it.

I have attached photos to aid in learning its history/maker.

Thank you for any assistance.

I recently inherited an old Mandolin. The brand is Goggan. My family lived in the Galveston area at the turn of the century so it's highly likely it was purchased from the old Galveston store. I looked up some info about the Goggan company, but I'm not sure what something like this is worth. It's not mint, but seems to have survived reasonably well. Although the neck does have a slight bow to it due to the tension on the strings over time. I couldn't quite get it in tune, but the strings look pretty old. On the inside it displays T. Goggan & Bro inside of a star shape. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a lovely A4. The original one piece bridge and all other original parts are in great shape. It would be nice to be able to adjust the bridge height. Does it make any sense to get a good adjustable bridge fitted and keep the original in the case? Is it likely that a good new bridge will affect tone? Good or bad?
